~The Cardinal~

Its looking really wintry outside..Every leaf is off the trees out

there..Theyre all on the ground now! and the wind NEVER

blows them OUT of my yard..always into it..Looking in this

direction is almost west..that road goes North.. Look closely

at that Rose of Sharon tree out there..over on the left.. I was

sitting at the kitchen table having lunch and looked up and

saw this beautiful bird..
He came over to this side of the tree and I could see what he

was..That's a male cardinal..Isnt he beautiful.. I love watching

these birds..taking photos of them.. I wish I didn't have these

screens on them and that they were clean windows..Penny

does the inside, but she cant reach outside and..besides..its

between the inside window and the storms that are dirty.. I

don't think they bothered to clean the inside windows before

they put up the aluminum ones.. Shame that no better care was

given to this house..could be so cute.. anyway.. I love watching

the birds..so do the boys.. I am putting at the top of my Christmas

wish list a bird feeder and hanger..for outside my window. I KNOW

I would LOVE that.. THEN get these stinkin screens off these things.

I could take some great photos of birds..There are a lot of different

kinds.. I keep watching for the blue jay..I have 2 brown squirrels and

1 black.. :-)
Isnt that just a pretty thing? The male cardinal is so pretty and

bright.The female is darker..with a slight reddish tint to her head..

Shes pretty, all birds are..but the male..so bright on the white

snow..so beautiful.. He stayed out there for a long time..Penny

put some seeds and I bought some corn for the birds and the

squirrels.. They have been steady out there but then these animals

always know when bad weather is coming.. I looked on the radar

awhile ago and I think we are in for a bad way to go.. I need to make

sure I have a flashlight and candles out and ready.. I should have

gotten more batteries for my radio.. And again I should have gotten

a cell phone.. no power ,, no phone.. not good.. and from what mail

I have been getting from people west of me..Barb in Iowa and Mary

in Whititcia I don't know how to spell that town..anyway they said its

really bad and be prepared..so I am.. Im not worried at all.. only thing

would be if we lose power for too long and no heat.. then I would get

upset.. that would not be good.. I am in the best part of town tho if we

do lose power.. I am only a block away from the hospital..I know I am

in the same power grid as it..so I think this will be the first restored if

we lose it..
I have very very few Christmas decorations, I don't even have a

tree..I did..a lovely little fiber optic one that was just beautiful..I

have NO idea where it is..Penny said its not down the basement..

I have the base, with the lights..but no tree.. I tried to get a photo

of LB laying in the wreath I was trying to put those pointsettias in,

It was on the front door but had blue flowers for summer..so I

just change the decorations on it for the seasons.. I had it on the

couch and LB decided he wanted to lay in it..and he looked so

cute..but he was facing me at the time.. I turned around and this

buggar..well you SEE what he did..he just politely turned around

and looked at the wall..Look at the left side of his face you can

almost see the look of "she's got that camera again"... He did

NOT turn around till I did.. Makes me wonder if they are getting

too used to me :-)

I phoned Dawn this morning..and they are busy as bees over there.

Donnie is digging that trench for the power line from the house to the

garage..and she is putting up plastic on the windows.. I asked her if

anyone has volunteered to help Donnie do this? she said "Yes, Gran,

FINALLY, Doug, his race car friend came over this morning and is

out there helping..and Mike came last nite." She is just as concerned,

and kinda upset too..Donnie is so generous.so willing to help any

way he can..yet when this kid needs help that hes too proud to ask

for,, no one volunteers.. His daughters boyfriend is supposed to come

and help today too..As much as he helps those 2 he sure needs to

be.. If I could I would..I would go and help.. I offered to cook something

if she wanted to come over later to get it..to feed everyone there but

she just doesn't have time to do anything her day is so already set and

on a time frame. Plus the fact with Donald if he suddenly needs some

thing..he yells..she jumps and goes and gets it.. She had to run all the

way on the other side of Elkhart this morning to get something he HAD

to have..so she needs to be close when he is in a major project.. Men..

Well this GORGEOUS WEEBLE..is hungry..my pork roast turned out

so GOOD!! I made some gravy..and now im gonna go treat my self to...

guess what? yup..this good gravy? ALL OVER FRIES..MMMM I love

that .. and I havent even tasted it yet..but the smell of this gravy? ohhh

yes yes.. its gonna be good.. I can almost taste it already.. Life really

is good to me.. and I can say.. I am truly grateful.. Oh..and I havent

said it in a while.. Thanks for coming and reading..and letting me know..

I love when you do.. My email is there..feel like writing ..well do it.. I
