Amputee life before and after...

~I'm Bad!~ :-)

I think since time began anything less than
perfect was either hidden, or destroyed.. Ive
heard of some 3rd world countries that if a child
is born with any kind of defect they are killed
or hidden away till they die so no one knows there
is a flaw in the family.. Even animals if they have
a baby that they seem to know is not perfect, the
mother will abandon and in some cases eat their
young... Sometimes I think some people should do
that too! :-) I'm kidding.. this is a serious subject,
but I HAD to put that cuz it was what I was
thinkin!! :-) I know- I'm bad..:-) anyway...

This movie I saw was about FDR.. Franklin Delano
Roosevelt.. He was stricken with polio when he was
8.. I looked up about him.. He was a great and power
ful man.. all the Roosevelts were, specially Eleanor..
I looked him up on the net.. They, only in the past
few years, put up a actual photo of him in a chair..
But while he was President.. very few ever saw him
in one or were photos taken of him in one.. The
stigmatism was there...Even though he was the
President, our country didn't want to know that he
was less than perfect..

In this movie.. there was a health spa with healing
waters.. mineral springs I guess, in GA, People with
health problems of any kind went there.. mostly
polio people, but other disabilities as well...However
if you only went to just relax, get away, a holiday,
had no health issues, let alone in a wheel chair,,,
you had access to the mineral springs at certain
times.. The people with disabilities could only use
the pool when none of the "PERFECT" guests
were out and could see them. They had separate
dining rooms... The President changed that once
he realized that the spa owners and half the
guests were biased and narrow minded as to not
see People as PEOPLE...

I think one of the best parts of this whole movie,
for me anyway, that I remember the most was the
scene of a young couple.. he worked there as a
waiter.. she was in a wheel chair.. back then polio
was rampant.. I think that's what she had.. she
had legs, but couldn't move them.. They were in
love.. It showed them sitting side by side.. when
he could sneak away to be with her. But the best
scene was when one evening after dinner they
heard the music from the PERFECT guests ball
room.. The boy stood up.. went over to the girl..
He reached down and picked up her hands to
put her arms around his neck.. he lifted her up..
Held her close and they danced.. You could see
the love and the fact she couldn't walk , well
he loved her anyway and he thought of a way
to make her feel PERFECT.. :-) And they danced...

To me it showed no matter what.. imperfections
or what ever.. doesn't matter..to those of us that
really FEEL that way.. like the REAL Devs.. not the
deviate ones that see disabled women or men
as a fetish.. and the main reason I think is for the
word.. CONTROL.. no arms.. how can you fight?
no legs.. you cant run away! Paralyzed.. well you,
you have no way to escape someone that is out to
"Get" you more or less.. I have met some that
say they are devs.. but I don't believe them.. Ive
talked to them at length.. and I really believe for
them.. its all control, want to see the amp on the
floor, in submission more or less and they use
the CONTROL words of "no one else would want
you, so be grateful I do".. Ive heard that!!!

Boy do I get some crap started hey? But I find
all this most interesting.. and I ask questions of
everyone I know.. I think .. truth be known
that perhaps I am a dev myself.. I have NO problem
with disabilities.. I think that's why I went to
nursing school.. I am .. well was.. a LPN.. then an aide.
I loved nursing.. and I think that part of me and
others that have no problem with people that have
a handicap all are devs.. :-) So THERE!!! ;-)

I found the movie..its at AMAZON.. its called Warm
Springs.. If you can see it.. watch it.. its quite good..
I read the reviews about it.. and I have YET to find
one that brings this subject up in any length at all
about the bias towards chair people. There were a
few lines referring to it.. But not many.. I think very
few even realized that about this movie.. well saw
it the way I did...showing disabled ARE human.. that
we love, laugh and feel just like every one that
THINKS they are PERFECT... note > THINKS! :-)

Its not lunch time yet, but I woke up hungry.. Ive
been trying not to snack as much at night while
I'm watching TV.. I learned about drinking any
thing past 6.. If I want to sleep for longer than
3 hours at a time :-) Those midnight potty calls
just wake me up totally then I cant go back to
sleep for at least an hour.. :-) But I have put on
a few pounds.. Penny says no..I havent.. but I
KNOW I have.. my little lap is getting smaller!
That's how I KNOW!! :-)

Anyhoway.. I am most pleased that the past few
blogs have met with such great comments and
mail.. Thanks.. Sometimes I worry I might step
on someones toes.. Wouldn't hurt.. :-) but still...
I wouldn't want to do that.. I just have a way
of saying what I think.. and no one has to really
agree with me either.. these are MY feelings
and what Ive gotten out of all my meetings of
so many different types of people.. :-)

Post time, and food time for this GORGEOUS
WEEBLE.... BUT!! "I SHALL RETURN!!! " :-)

Always, Lois ****

God Bless You, is my prayer today,
I'm so honored to call you "friend".
I pray the Lord will keep you safe,
Until I write again...

    Hello Lois
We live in a day that we are able to help the handicap live a good life. And we can learn so much from them...The ones who think they don't have a handicap, are the worst of all. I have found out special children have the greatest love and so pure.
    God bless you Lois

Life expands from a tiny microcosm until it spreads through the universe. And so it is with love - when one has a love partner one can communicate with and share explosiver erotic joys along mutual love, then one really has a good relationship. I wrote you privately on this subject.

    Hi, Honey,
    I agree with Butty!
Here is a diet you might think it worth trying, just to stop that chair shrinking. It was in "Readers' Digest recently. I found I am 198lb (that's 10 stone 2 for any other Limeys out there!) and that is a lot too much! So what I do is eat every other day. On fast days I drink orange juice first thing in the morning, have coffee at regular intervals and a bit of fruit occasionally, glass of cold milk just before bed (stops the tummy gurgling and keeping me awake!)
I'll let you know how it goes - only been doing it since last Monday!
Talking of Limeys, that's another label for yours truly!!
    Take care, Honey,
    Luv Ya,
    Raife
