~Happy Mothers Day~
Mothers Day today, but I don't think we
need a special day to remember our
moms. I bet I think of mine just about
every day, mainly because I have so
many things around my house that
were hers. I have lots of things that
I can even remember where she had
them placed. I have vases that she
used lots of times, mainly because
she loved flowers and all summer
long she had fresh flowers every
where, from all gardens she had
really remember her. Cooking
and making goodies for us. We
always had very good meals and
deserts were wonderful..She made
a killer lemon meringue pie that
was delicious and my dads favorite.
I think one of the best things I have
of hers is her recipe box and cook
books. I have some dating back to
the 1920's. Every recipe of moms
was great and many I use to this
and I, only a few. The one there was
taken at Bond Falls in the UP, a
beautiful place that we always went
to when I visited and mom and dad
made a trip there every year. There
were steps that went down one side
to the bottom, then there was only a
path through the woods to climb up
the other side back to the top..Mom
made that climb when she was 78
years old, the last time she went. It
was and I'm sure still is a beautiful spot.
That photo was taken on Mothers Day
when I was about 12..That's my sister
Gayle in the center, we were on our way
to church, you can see one of the flower
beds behind us where Mom got her
flowers to put in the house. Those were
the good times.. :-)
I look at these old photos and remember
all the wonderful times, my parents were
both alive and I had my sister Gayle then.
Ive not seen or spoken or been in contact
with her since 1990. We did not part friends
and its something I don't talk about at all.
But I miss her, she lives in Hawaii.
My boy Donnie phoned this morning which
sure made my day. Hes all the way in
Wisconsin with his mom and dad, but
thought of me.. That sure makes me feel
good..Hes a good kid. He is not related
to me at all, other than just being a dear
dear friend, but I tell everyone hes my
son. I love him as much as if he was, and
I tell his mom and dad how grateful I am
that they share him with me.. Ive known
Donnie since 1984.. hes stuck by me all
these years, and has proven himself to be
a wonderful man. Its good to hear from at
least one of my boys...
Well I'm done for today, I have no idea of
what I'm going to make for my dinner, since
it is a holiday I may make my very best
favorite, fries n gravy. I love that more than
any other food... But its also the very best.
If you have never put brown gravy on fries
try it.. Its better than cheese or chili on them.
Trust me, ive been eating this since I was
2 years old. :-)
I hope your having a great weekend, ours is
turning out to be nice, I'm glad, Penny is
putting in her garden! I cant wait till she shares
the harvest with me, which I know she will..
In the meantime, I'm still a most GORGEOUS
WEEBLE.. Keep well and God Bless...
WEEBLE.. Keep well and God Bless...
Always, Lois ****
"God Bless You" is my prayer today,
I'm honored to call you 'friend'.
I pray the Lord will keep you safe,
Until I write again...
