Penny came today and went to Home Depot for me.. I did not know they had a garden center. We, well Penny has, been looking for double Impatient plants or seeds.. there are none. Not that she can find.. But today she went to Home Depot and they had 1 flat of double impatients.. and needless to say they are NOW planted in my flower box that sits out on my railing in front... They are pink and white.. They do so good in the shade is why I want them, they don't require a lot of sun.. I had them all down my driveway at the condo where I had my lanai... They looked so pretty.. I alternated the red and the white ones so it looked like a stripe going down the drive. I got a small bird feeder .. no.. PENNY did, and a hook to hang it and she filled it with bird seed.. The birds are going nuts out there.. I saw 2 squirrels.. TONS of birds.. then while I was looking at all this and enjoying the animals.. I see this dark gray cat, had a collar on..and he was sneaking up on my bird feeder!! He crouched real low to the ground so he wouldn't be so noticeable. I watched as the birds didn't even see him.. As I kept watching I saw that this cat was just TOO close to the birds.. I knocked on the window as hard as I could.. the birds went flying off and the cat turned and looked at me ! He almost glared at me he seemed so mad.. Well he thought he was gonna have a nice juicey little bird for dinner and I stopped THAT! so he was mad at me..but he ran off towards the pink house next door.. I watched as he ran thru the back yard , through the fence and up on the porch next door, so he must be theirs.. I was surprised to see a cat out there, Ive never seen one here before..but Penny said once she saw kitty prints in the snow , so they had to be that cats prints..
It was hilarious to watch the squirrel try to get into the bird feeder.. Now.. I have a bowl of corn out there.. for the squirrel.. and he is NOT satisfied hes got to have the birdseed.. I saw him run half way up the end post of the fence..he turned as if to run back down.. then in one big sort of jump..his front legs were on the bird feeder. He swayed back and forth but did NOT give up his grip on the bird seed.. he stayed there for a long time.. He was determined he was going to have birdseed besides his corn! and he did! He worked hard for it tho so I don't mind him eating it.. :-)
I watched the birds out there and they are so sloppy.. they dig in to the seed then like shake their little heads and the seed is ALL over the ground as well.. They eat like little piggies.. Penny planted the morning glories and they are already coming up.. I hope they climb that fence.. that would be so pretty to see.. I really enjoy looking out my windows and watching the birds and squirrels and the cardinals are so elegant.. I noticed out there this morning as I sat and waited for my coffee I kept hearing this cooing sound. I looked and there were 2 morning doves out there walking around cooing at each other.. Now all I need is a birdbath. you see the cardinal.. beautiful bird..
I had the screen up in front of the door today and yup.. the boy figured out how to get over it.. He got out on the porch twice today and I had to drag him back in.. The porch screen hasnt been kitty proofed and I would die if one of them fell out of the window and got outside.. I wouldn't be able to get them.. The screens look sturdy but no one has checked them.. Dutch had big fun out there, he thought it was great ..and was mad as could be at me for a long time and sat at the door meowing for an hour !! Until its kitty proofed they cannot go out there.
Well im gonna go out.. to my kitchen and get a piece of some lemon cake I have.. its so good.. Entenmann's makes them.. Its a bakery that boxes its stuff then sells them in the grocery stores.. If you have never tried any of their stuff thinking its boxed so not good.. well you are in for a big treat.. Their bakery stuff is better than the stuff they have in the bakery department.. of Meijers anyway.. But most stores carry the Entenmann's bakery stuff and trust me its ALL GOOD.. Ive tried a lot of the stuff they make and I like it.. and the Lemon cake.. its great.. Time for cake and my GORGEOUS WEEBLE "nitey nite" Thanks for all the sweet comments on last nites blog.. you sure know how to make me feel good and I thank you very much :-)
Y'all have a good one now, Y'hear? love ya and thanks.. :-) ALways, Lois ****

I used to live near the ocean. We had sea gulls, and wild turkeys come to the yard. We had perhaps 1,000 tomatillo plants (Mexican tomatoes) and they attracted bees from all over the neighborhood. we composted and we had 1000s of earth worms - one day the police came and told me that I had to stop farming in the suburbs. Shortly after - My wife and I separated and I moved back to the city

Hi, Honey,
SO glad you are doing a bit of gardening - even if it is "by proxy" !!
Squirrels are a pain in the butt! They ate the plastic base out of our bird feeder, just to get at the seeds inside. I replaced it with a base made out of a tin can - that had 'em!!
We don't have a squirrel problem here any more - but I won't go into why!!
That Cardinal is just gorgeous. We don't have anything as bright ss that, here.
Take care, Hone, and keep planting!!
Luv Ya,
Raife
