Amputee life before and after...

~Alessandro Joseph~ :-)

My Great Grandson, Alex, is enjoying the snow..:-)
He will be 2 in April already.. Amazing how fast
the time has gone.. Hes gotten so big.. Kelli, Jorge
and Alex are due to come up either this Saturday
or the next, depends what day Jorge has off. Its
been awhile since they were here... I look forward
to seeing them... :-) What a boy hey? Alessandro
Joseph.... Kelli did good.. Well Jorge helped.. Alex
does look like his daddy...that sweet apple didn't
fall far from the tree :-)

Did you know that it is NOT easy to get dressed
while you are sitting on the potty? I took my bath,
and I get dressed sitting there rather than in my
chair, which is even harder... But by the time I get
my dirty clothes off, and get the bath done, and
then get dressed? I'm ready for a NAP! :-) It is
SO not easy.... :-)

I told that to Penny today, she is so lucky she can
stand and pull her top or pants, what ever with no
problem cuz shes standing.. How these amputees
can wear pants, I don't know.. Its hard enough with
a skirt ! I wore pants some time back... for ONE
HALF of a day.. After that I couldn't stand it.. I
wore myself out even more trying to get pants off
and on while I'm sitting on them!! And mine were
loose ones ! :-) How can a dak get them on and off
with ease.?. Maybe laying on a bed.. that wouldn't be
too bad, lay down and roll side to side and pull up
the sides. But for the potty.. how do they do it?

When I had to potty, the day, no.. half day, that I
had the pants on.. to get them pulled back up where
they go, I had to lay back into my chair and pull
them up that way.. I tried to use my arms... But its
the same.. I used one hand on the arm rest then
pushed up.. like doing one hand push ups.. aint easy!
then I had to do the other side too!! By the time I
got those bloomin' things back up I bet I did 50
push ups :-) No, not that many, but it sure felt like
it..

I reminded Penny today that she needs to appreciate
all that she can do.. and Penny really does.. she sees
what I go through and until she worked for me and
was around me so much she had no idea just how
really hard this is.. which goes for anyone.. until you
are really around it.. you have NO idea just how hard
this really is.. I'm NOT complaining.. its all part of
this wonderful GORGEOUS WEEBLE world I live in..
But... I have adapted and most importantly learned! :-)

Post time and lunch.. meat pie today. :-) One more week,
and its my day :-) Ifn you need my addy.. just let me
know :-) The 20th! :-) I shall return!! :-)

Always, Lois ****

God Bless You, is my prayer today,
I'm so honored to call you "friend".
I pray the Lord will keep you safe,
Until I write again...

Nice picture of your Great Grandson Alex, and baby grow up so fast.
James has been put on hold till Thursday, not for sure if he going to get the place now...We did hear he apartment is going to be the frist one work on, the damage was the less there...and it may only take a few week till it ready for him to move back in.
    God bless you Lois.

re pants: it is difficult to put pants on over orthotics and then deal with shoes. I knew a male amp who wore shorts - even they are difficult. In the future, try side zippers or velco closings for pants.

    Hi, Honey,
Young Alex sure is a Poppet!! You must be very proud of him!
I suppose, if you were to wear cut-down tights, you could roll them down as far as possible and then lean sideways to roll them off each cheek, but it wouldn't be easy - even a "normy" can understand that.
What makes me really mad is when a "normy" parks in a disabled slot in town or at the supermarket, or across a pedestrian ramp on to the sidewalk. It's SO thoughtless.
    Take care, Honey,
    Luv Ya,
    Raife
