~Comfy Friend~ :-)

When we, meaning my ex, David and I, lived in Elkhart,
we rented a condo from David's moms friend, Jim. It
was a nice place and that's our living room, well part of
it.. The ledge of the window is ground level.. Just to the
right of the window is the backdoor that went up some
steps to the end of the driveway and my lanai as I liked
to call it.. Go thru the doorway there and instead of
going left to go outside if you took a right and went be
hind that wall there it was the laundry room... That huge
thing sprawled out in my chair is our friend Ron. :-)
Everyone that comes to my house gets comfy :-) Ron
sure is hey? :-)

Ron worked with David and also was a game player with
David, we had a play station back then, its down on the
floor covered with a blanket right in front of the TV..
Ron had come by one evening before going to work, he
was working opposite shifts of David, so he wanted to
come by and play some games.. As you see he didn't
last long.. You see that fish above his head? that's the
Northern I caught, with the lure in his mouth that I
used to catch him.. David claimed it as his catch, I
didn't care I knew...

Davids Sister, Laura lived on the other side of us. I
had stayed up one night to watch TV and it started
to rain... It steadily got worse and the rain just was
pouring down.. I sat there in that chair that Ron is
in and the back door was open, rain couldn't get in
the open door was a roof over the steps.. plus there
was a drain at the base of the steps in the center
of the bottom of the steps.. I started to hear this
like burbling sound.. like water bubbling.. I couldn't
imagine what it was... I got up and looked out the back
door and didn't see anything but kept hearing that
sound.. I finally turned on the light to see better and I
noticed bubbles coming up from that drain, which I had
not ever seen before. I watched for a while and then
decided it was just from the rain and went back to
watch TV... I fell asleep...

I woke to the sound of the bubbling water, I looked at
the time, which I always do when I wake up and noticed I
had slept for about a half hour. I decided it was time to
go to bed and put the foot rest down on the chair, and
proceeded to stand up.. when I did I was standing in
about 2 inches of water... I panicked and rushed over to
the back door and as I looked out I saw the water up to
the top of the bottom step and rising steadily.. I ran up
the stairs to wake David up, just as I hit the bottom of the
steps the electricity went out and it was pitch dark except
for the lightening flashes... I made it to the bedroom and
woke David up frantically telling him we are being FLOODED!

As David jumped up, got dressed and ran downstairs I called
Laura next door and told her we are being flooded, the drains
are clogged.. I neglected to tell her there was no electric.. I
heard them run down the steps and I heard the door open
and Laura screamed.. She came running over to our back door
and said "The water was up to the window on the door! I opened
it and we got flooded!" We told her our door was open and we
got it too... Everything on the floor got ruined... sadly the play
station was one of them. I should have been more specific on
my call to Laura but I had to get down stairs to get that water
out of our place.. Laura later laughed at what they must have
looked like standing there all dry and then open the door and
get flooded.. like you would see on a cartoon... Her and John
were soaked.. bad thing was the cat followed them, when that
water came in.. well..how good do kitties like water? That cat
ran right up Johns leg, back, and perched on his shoulder and
refused to let go... He wasn't getting wet.. Ours was upstairs
so BB didn't get wet at all... We had to rent a shop vac to get
all the water out.. only good outcome was we got new carpet.
Apparently the rain was too fast and too steady and most all
the neighbors got flooded.

Being there are 3 rivers that meet here, and one is only 2
blocks from this house I tend to worry about flooding. As
long as Ive lived here though there has never been a worry,
nor do I ever remember hearing it had flooded here. But
then its very possible, look at where Mary lives and those
people in Iowa right now going thru all that flood.. How
awful... I feel so badly for those people.. what do thousands
of people do that are suddenly homeless.. I wish I could help.
I wanted to go down and take care of animals after that
Katrina hurricane.. I would have too if I coulda... Poor things.

Well this GORGEOUS WEEBLE animal is tired.. update on
the arms is none, no change no difference except they are
seriously sore.. My elbows especially, when I go to sit up
or move I rest on them.. more the right one than the left.
Ive woke my self up from moving wrong its so sore.. I do
notice it seems its dryer... not as itchy.. I have been using
the banana too off and on.. I'm willing to try anything to
get rid of this stuff..

Time to finish for the day and try to do something use
ful like sort out all my photos I have everywhere.. Plus
I havent had any dibs yet since Penny got them wed. So
I may have a treat... First my GORGEOUS WEEBLE
"nitey nite" :-)

Y'all have a good one now, Y'hear? love ya, and THANKS!
Always, Lois ****
God Bless You, is my prayer today,
I'm so honored to call you "friend"
I pray the Lord will keep you safe,
until I write again .....

    Hello Lois
We got the church all clean up again, it took 5 hours each for Bob and I, plus Shirley was able to help this week for 2 hours.Yes there was lot of other thing to do, but we got the most important thing done...
My home has never been flooded, and I pray it never does...
That hail we had a few years ago I was the worst thing that happen to our home... it broke third of the windows on the West side of the home here in Coffeyville and the roofs had to re replaced...I had bruises on my leg where the hail hit me in my home. That hail come in the West Dinning Room window and went into the Living room across the room and hit in front of the TV. I still wonder how that happen...and there was about a dozen or more of hail in front of the TV.
Have a good weekend my friend,I hoping to stay home all day myself.
    God bless you.
    Mary
