Amputee life before and after...

~Squirrel Drama~

I was sitting by my desk looking out the window, it was a
beautiful day today, a nice breeze, sun, and it wasn't hot..
Just a nice fall kinda day.. One where you know when you
hang your fresh laundry outside to dry that they will smell
so good.. You cant hardly wait to snuggle into your bed so
you can smell the freshness...I used to hang my clothes out
side as soon as I knew it was warm enough so they wouldn't
freeze hanging there.. Ive had that happen... they still smell
so good.. I used to take the sheets and things down and I
couldn't help but put them over my face to smell them.. Then
carefully, neatly fold them so that the freshness stayed inside.
A wonderful smell.. I miss that.. I used to be the manager of
a small motel outside Houston...only 6 rooms..very easy to
take care of daily, well only 4, 2 were weekly rentals... I hung
all the bedding for those 4 rooms outside. Most times when
the key was returned the customer would comment about
how wonderful it was to sleep on those fresh smelling sheets.

I sat here and watched 3 little red squirrels over in the yard
across the street, they were playing in those butchered trees
over there.. I know how sad they must be with most of their
trees gone.. For quite a while 2 of them played so cute, they
would run up the tree a bit..then zip back down across to
another one.. Then I saw one dart across the road out there!!!
He got half way across and STOPPED!! then turned back
and started to run super fast and just made it before cars
went by.. I kept watching..and the whole time this little red
sqirrel is zipping back and forth across the street out there, Im
sitting in here yelling at it to "WAIT!" "ok, GO!" like he could
hear me.. I mean.. I was excited here watching this.. THEN the
2nd squirrel starts this same back and forth .. by the time those
2 things finally got across the street I was a nervous wreck !!!
I said to myself.. that I cant watch that kind of drama.. :-) one
of those little guys would have gotten smushed by a car in front
of me I think I would throw up!! Talk about DRAMA,, and the
boys watched it too!! I checked on and off today and Ive not
seen them and there are no furry lumps in the road either so..
all is well I hope in squirrel land :-)

While I was sitting here, after the squirrel ordeal.. I got to watching
the people that were riding bicycles, one man was walking his
little dog.. I was fidgeting around in my chair and got to thinking
about things I miss... like the smelly sheets, and not being able to
hang clothes out side.. I twisted in my chair and sat sideways,,
and I thought about the different ways I used to sit.. I loved to sit
with my knees crossed..then I would take my shoe off and kind of
swing in off my ugly toes... When I would sit and watch TV I sat
with my legs bent to one side..kind of on my hip.. Or I would sit
with my left knee up... I miss not being able to do that.. Sometimes
when I am facing my desk..and I am not really doing anything but
surfing the net for something..usually music, I sit close, and I put
my left stump up against my desk..sort of how I would sit with my
knee up .. I cant just hold it there it gives out.. but If I prop it..it works
and that feels really good sometimes.. My right is just too short
and wont reach to the desk edge... its a shortie ... like me.. :-)

There are so many things I miss but until I actually go to do some
thing or try to find a good way to sit or to lay in bed, I don't realize
that I miss them.. I guess the more time goes on..the less I will
miss what I Used to do... well I still can do most of what I used to do,
the short stuff anyways.. :-) Many times I get so mad at my chair,
and just swear at it.. and its not the chair.. its the fact that im in it..
Im just a bad driver.. I never did pay attention to speed limits even
when I drove a car, I didn't go over them..much... :-).. I just get in a
hurry moreso now.. and to maneuver in this house..well we had to
take the doors off so I could get thru them.. I cant go thru with my
hands on the wheels.. I found THAT out the hard way TOO!

I know I missed lunch, I wasn't really hungry and it was a pretty good
one, mac and cheese, with peas and tomatoes and tiny dices of ham.
its ok..one of their better ones.. I just got a call from a lady from
Keystone.. named Heidi...she is replacing Lori and will be here about
10 ish to introduce herself.. I hope Lori prepared her for me.. She
seemed really nice..so I hope so.. Time for my late lunch.. cant miss
dinner.. I can miss lots of stuff and tolerate it..but not my dinner :-)
"Nitey Nite"

Y'all have a good one now, Y'hear, Love ya and THANKS! :-)

Oh PS.. My arm..the elbow is still VERY VERY sore..and the swelling
has gone down.. the rash is still there but not as itchy..If you look
close at Sundays photo you can see its still ickky lookin.. I had to
change my drs appt..and I go next Wednesday.. I couldn't get a ride.

Always, Lois ****

God Bless you, is my prayer today,
I'm so honored to call you "friend";
I pray the Lord will keep you safe,
Until I write again.....

We used to have squirrels in the attic. They liked to chew on the electric insulation. We used to trap the squirrels in Have-a-Heart cages with peanut butter.

Lots of people dont like the squirrels..but they are so pretty, but can be pests... My sister had a possum in her attic, attacked and killed her cat when they put it up there thinking it was mice LOL..poor kitty... :-)

    Hello Lois
We have lot more squirrel since the flood here, my boys does so much barking at them....Hubby cut our limb back so the squirrel will have a harder time getting in our pecan tree now...he is thinking about setting trap for them if thing don't get better.
    On the run today again.
Pam is doing a little bit better, she is sleeping all night in her chair, but she is keeping her feet on the floor. Still lot of problem but thing are better.
