Amputee life before and after...

~Big Difference~

There is a huge difference in here now that Stan has
fixed these windows. I am so glad I remembered to ask
him. I have to do that which is kinda like taking advantage
when someone comes to visit.. Well I kinda have no choice.
Like the lunch girl going out and getting my mail for me. I
knew there was a netflix out there and I had some other
stuff that I needed to pay. So when someone comes I guess
I more or less have to use them if there is something I
cant do and that's kinda ugly but well.. I guess its more of
the joys of chair life.

Im putting this photo here but only for today, It will be
deleted tomorrow, you know the rules...

Ive had a few opinions about these stick out thingies on this
chair.. almost like battering rams for someone like me. :-)
Stan looked all around under, along side and he said there
were 2 screws under there that he was pretty sure might
release that whole thing and it pull out.. Well I was afraid
to let him undo anything for fear I would fall out of this
chair or something fall off and then I couldn't use it.. THAT
would NOT be good.. But I will call R & R tomorrow, boy are
they gonna get tired of me :-) no, not really I'm business
for them.. But I will talk to JIM, NOT DAVE, and ask him
if they can come out and how, plus I want to get a thinner
cushion.. This one on this power chair I bet is 5 inches
thick, that throws everything off and when I have to back
into it, I have to LIFT UP... that's not easy, even if its
only a few inches, you have to consider the drag from your
clothes making it harder to do as well... This aint easy, let
me tell ya... But I will call Deborah first to see if I can get
a new cushion.. this one is just not good... If not.. well I will
cut down an old one I kept...just for this reason..

I had considered it for the chair in the bathroom as it has
no cushion at all, which isnt necessary really, but with out
makes the height difference again.. The riser on the potty
is level with my manual chair.. This power chair would be
the same height IF it had a thinner cushion... So instead
of making a cushion for the bathroom chair I will wait
and see if I can get a new one for this power chair.. That's
what I would like to do but well they may tell me "no"...
some people do tell me no... I usually don't accept it but
well sometimes I have to :-)

I am going to get my Christmas package off this week for my
grandsons.. I don't know how long it will take to get to the
UK but I think a while.. I may have waited too long, but
with this sudden kinda, move, it threw my schedule way off.
But better late than never... Danny has a birthday this
month plus Christmas... His dad and mom did take him to
Disneyland which I know he thoroughly enjoyed.. I am
waiting to see pictures that Richard promised to send..:-)

Well I'm hungry and I need some food...I havent gotten
too much done today and I really should, I'm just lazy I
guess, well I'm allowed ONE day off...Its a bitter cold
winter day a good relaxer and stay inside one.. Its about
18 degrees and we have I know at least 5 or 6 inches of
snow out there.. I see that poor black kittie over across
the street waiting to be let in.. I don't understand how
people can leave their animals out like that.. The poor
thing is waiting by the door.. I wish I could lure him over
here I would let him in... Poor kittie... Wonder how they
would like staying out in this cold.. Just not right..

I'm ready to get some lunch and some work done so I
better get started before my get up and go gets up
and Leaves! This GORGEOUS WEEBLE says "G'Day,G'Day"

Y'all have a good one now, Y'hear? love ya and Thanks!!!
Always, Lois ****

"God Bless You" is my prayer today,
I'm honored to call you "friend".
I pray the Lord will keep you safe,
Until I write again...

    Hi, Honey,
I suppose you couldn't use the cushion from your manual chair in the power chair? Do a swap? That would still leave the manual chair comfortable for your guests.
I think Stan is right. I bet your battering rams are adjustable to get the foot rests in just the right position. That would mean that they probably just slide right out - looks like it from the photo.
One of the things I leaned pretty quickly was that us "normies" should wait until asked before helping. I believe many amputees do not like being "fussed over". Though, of course, the normal actions associated with good manners, like opening and holding a door for a lady, would still apply. So, ASK, Honey. You will find that people would be only too pleased to offer any help you need, and feel very good about helping you. I know I would!! ;o)
    Take care, Honey,
    Luv Ya,
    Raife
