~Baseball Time~
Just before I closed down my computer and went to
watch TV, I heard some kids shouting so I looked out
the window of course. 3 boys were having the best
time.. Was so funny the boy in blue was batting and
he wasn't a very good hitter. He must have run after
that ball here into my side yard at least a dozen times.
They played out there a long time, but I enjoyed it and
I had to smile when I saw them.. We used to play base
ball in the field by McDonalds house. That was the old
man's name that owned the property. It was an apple
orchard.. Today, it has a huge church built on it.. But
they kept one of the apple trees and by special
dispensation by the city, Mr. McDonald was allowed to
be buried there in his orchard.. From what I remember
that farm had been there since that land was first
found. :-) A long time.. I remember him as a cranky old
man that would yell and chase us kids if we strayed in
to his orchard.. Well he had some great APPLES !!! :-)
We played baseball a lot in that field..I don't think he
We played baseball a lot in that field..I don't think he
really minded us using it because he kept it mowed down.
I know he chased me and Sandra and Earl out of there.
They lived down the street from me.. There were a lot of
kids on my street and we all played together. Summers
were the best. I was pitching at one of our games and
Richard was batting.. he was kinda strong and I didn't
really like pitching to him.. I preferred the girls, they
didn't hit as hard.. Well... I threw the ball and the next
thing I knew I got hit right between the eyes.. Hard
too.. he said he was only bunting .. well he had good aim.
I ended up with both eyes black and blue.. I never
heard the end of it at school... They all called me Ducky
for a while.. because I should have DUCKED !! :-) it
was fun though.. I hated the black eyes though .. those
things didn't match ANYTHING I wore !!.. yes, I was
just as fussy back then as I am now.. :-)
I saw Carl out riding his mower getting his yard all nice and
I saw Carl out riding his mower getting his yard all nice and
cleaned up.. I tried to catch him and tell him that wasn't
fair cuz it made my yard look bad.. All those pine cones out
there drive me nutz.. I hate those things.. Pine trees are
such a messy, buggy, ground destroying tree. No grass will
grow under it...well it might if its lifted up like this one out
here is.. some don't drop all these pine cones like this one
either.. this is a long needle kind, not the short Christmas
tree kind.. Its the MESSY kind is what it is.. Id take it
down.. Id suffer the hot after noon sun and get rid of it.
Its just too messy.. I don't know if they would have to be
picked up before the grass is cut or not.. I would think so.
specially if you don't have a bagger on your lawn mower..
The lady across the street was raking her yard today too.
I think tomorrow when Penny is here we may go out and
The lady across the street was raking her yard today too.
I think tomorrow when Penny is here we may go out and
take a tour of the yard. I am anxious to see the flower
beds and what we may need. I shall document my outing
of course :-) Lunch will be here soon and Chris goes out
and checks the mail for me on Pennys off days.. Sure is
nice of her. I know I have mail cuz I saw Edna the mail
lady stop.. I get anxious knowing I have mail.. I love to
get goodies.. My luck will be a bill . :-) No!! The COA
is closed today, that's why I got 2 lunches yesterday!
Its a holiday... St Patricks Day.. I just remembered..
