~Sunday-Lazy Day~
Its been awhile since I have put a photo of me here,
so I thought Id give y'all a treat since its almost St.
Pattys Day. I looked for something green, but to be
honest I didn't feel like changing :-) I know, lazy, lazy.
Its a nice kinda warm and very sunny Sunday. That
brings back lots of Sunday memories.. Sunday School,
then church, and by the time we got home and walked
in the door, smelled the great dinner my mother had
waiting for us we were ready to eat.. :-) I happened to
get the boys together and took one of them too. :-)
Most Sunday dinners were roast chicken as it could be
Most Sunday dinners were roast chicken as it could be
put in the oven and slow cooked.. We had that a lot but
then it was changed to my dads favorite, a beef roast.
He loved that.. I was so picky I wouldn't eat the fat on
it. It looked iccky to me and no way was I gonna eat that.
My dad would tell me "You don't know what your missin
Lois, its the best part". I hate to say it but I still don't
like fat, any more than I like carrots :-) For desert was
usually a lemon pie, which was dad's favorite.. me, I liked
any of them, every one my mom made was great. I made
the mistake of saying my Aunt Gladys's blueberry pie
was as good as my moms.. I don't think I ever heard the
end of that one, every time she made one she would say,
"I hope its as good as Aunt Gladys's" I would smile and
tell her that HERS are the BEST!! DONT ever say some
one else's is better than your moms, specially NOT TO
HER ! Oh.. and for heavens sake DONT say that to
HER ! Oh.. and for heavens sake DONT say that to
your WIFE! "Moms are better".. trust me... it will NOT
be well received.. :-)
After Willie and I divorced and he married his first wife,
Doris, I had to phone him for some reason or other and
she answered the phone.. We talked, we had no hard
feelings, in fact I was glad he had her, then I didn't need
to worry about him still pestering ME! So I was glad he had
her.. ANYWAY, Doris says to me.. "Lois, I am SO SICK
of being compared to YOU! All Willie says is, 'Lois did
this, and Lois did that', I'm sick of you". I laughed and
told her.. "Well when your good, you're good". :-)
I got off the lazy Sunday subject didn't I? I have a
tendency to do that, one memory triggers another.. But
back to Sundays... After dinner, we cleaned up of course,
dad got into his recliner and took a nap, mom got into hers
and took a 5 as she called it.. me, I just went outside, if
the weather was good, and waited for them.. When they
got up we usually always went for a ride. Never the same
place since Dad knew every road in the county by heart.
Sometimes we would stop and Dad would fish, mom always
brought a snack for us, then it was back home to a light
supper of maybe soup and sandwiches, or even better,
left overs. Then was the radio time that switched to TV.
Ed Sullivan of course. I saw the Beatles on that show,
glued to the TV screen. Sundays were, are and hopefully
ALWAYS will be nice lazy days... :-)
The rest of my lazy day will consist of sewing and cutting
out a pair of pants for Alex.. Its just so good to sew again.
My sis called and wanted to know what all I have made so
far.. We compare notes.. Shes gonna be great gramma again
so shes sewing maternity and baby stuff .. Post time, and
my GORGEOUS WEEBLE "g'day, g'day"... :-)
Y'all have a good one now, Y'hear? love ya, and thanks!!
Always, Lois ****
"God Bless You", is my prayer today.
I'm honored to call you "friend".
I pray the Lord will keep you safe,
Until I write again...

Hi Lois Sweetie,
I really enjoyed reading about your Sunday memories of the days with your parents.
I often sit & do the same , thinking of what great times they were when we were kids.
Reminiscing is fun, & guess we are lucky to have such wonderful memories to look back on.
