~My Carpet is Growing~
They put the cheapest carpet they could find in here. I swear it looks
like its growing. Everywhere you look there are little fuzzies sticking
up. I pointed this out to the manager when he was here friday to put
in the faucet. He felt it was because of the cats and their claws. I did
NOT agree. They are everywhere, and if it was my boys they would
constantly be sticking to it, and I would see it. They dont claw the
carpet at all, they have their own chair they use. The carpet in here
is very very thin type, I feel it and its so thin..very cheap.
When tennant has been in an apartment for a while they are
supposed to change it. They did not before I moved in, I made sure..
Penny lived next door before I moved in..she said no carpet was
put in. I had to, at one time, have the strip removed that is between
the livingroom & kitchen as the carpet had started to pull away from
under it. I watched as the other maintence guy fixed it and I have
only one description of that episode it was actually so laffable at the
quality of his work it was so badly done.
At one time I had the fun of being the manager of a small hotel and
a motel, houses and apartments in Houston, TX. I know the right
way and wrong way to fix things..And the first thing you do to make
a repair is get rid of the old defective things causing the need for a
repair, which was NOT done.. The strip was pulled up, and just a new
other , and non matching, strip was glued down on top of the old glue,
which made the strip stick up, making it hard to roll over now, the old
glue should have been removed. This is the quality of maintence we
get. but then our manager is only required to be here 8 hours a week
To keep the building maintained, for 18 apartments and handle the
many issues here, they still wont provide more hours or even a
assistant manger to live here. which I feel and so do a couple of the
other long timers feel is needed. But no one wants to do anything
about it. I tried once. Was told I was an instigator and trying to cause
problems, and would be evicted if I tried to organize a resident
council for us to air our complaints and make it a better maintained
apartment community. The intimidation is awful, but where would
we go? This apartment building, even tho badly managed and
maintained, is one of the best in St. Joe County. Some others I have
seen when I was looking were so badly kept its pathetic.
Getting back to carpet....Today, I got my scissors, and on the way back
to my bedroom and computer I decided I would trim some of these
"growing" spots off to try to get it to look a little better. Was THAT fun.
Talk about good bending exercise..well this was a really good one..
Remember now, I can only barely touch my fingers to the floor, I have
SHORT arms lol...well I do. :-) I had a big pair of scissors in my right
hand, and am reaching back with my left to the back of my chair, a
very good tight hold, this is one position that a wider butt comes in
a little handy as I have a TAD bigger base, so to speak. and am more
stable for bending over this far out of my chair safely, It is locked
down, THAT is a must! As I am bent so tightly in half, I have to be very
careful..Remember too, I have NO depth perception..I am blind in my
left eye, so my head is very low, which causes the blood to rush to my
head after so long . I stay bent like this while I am trying to snip all
these tufts of carpet, for at least a few minutes, well until I start to
feel light headed .. lol... I sit back up for a few minutes, wait for my
head to clear, shoo Dutch away and I repeated this for a LONG time.
well, Till I finally HAD to stop, my arms just gave out, and I was just
pooped, plus I was tired of shooing Dutch away which made this little
jobbie TWICE as hard lol.. :-)
The fun part of this is.. yes.. Dutch.. I would go to cut a fluffie, and I
had to be very fast, and keep my ONE :-) eye out for him..He thought
this was a game, and would try to get the scissors with his little feet
plus his face was right there as well.. I had to really watch out for him
plus try to SEE these little fluffies, well I was so worried that I
would snip his nail or toe.. much less cut off his whiskers lol.. He had
big fun.. I would yell and push him away, he would run,, and ZIP, he
was right back slapping at the scissors.. So he made it even more
strenuous, than just the snipping actually was. I am surprised I got
any cut at all. lol...
FINALLY, I looked back at what I had done, I laffed.. it looked like
I plowed a path through my carpet, made the other spots I didnt
do even MORE noticeable.!. I sat there for a minute, looked down at
Dutch, who was of course, waiting for me to start again, and had to
smile about how much work I had done and made it even worse ! lol
Now I have to leave it like this or do all the other bad spots, which
FOOEY, will take a month with 3 rooms to do lol, I think I will just do
the dining room as that is where the one door is and hope no one will
notice all the other zillion spots :-D I wonder what throw rugs cost?
I found out why the manager came so late to fix my faucet on friday,
was because Penny apparently called the Chief BossMan of Hope
Network and complained about our sinks needing repaired for the past
6 months and he got on to the manager & told him he had better get
them fixed and get his hiney over here. No wonder he was in a bad
mood. He & his wife have a new 2 week old baby, their first, and he
is cutting his maintence time at all of his 8 complex's so he can be
home more. He got here at 5:30, which is NOT an acceptable time to
have your kitchen sink torn apart. I did get my new faucet and that is
the main thing, the water pressure is actually very fast here. I was
so surprised !..Ahhh the joys of apartment life. it could be alot better,
this is a very nice big apartment. just needs better maintence, a more
scheduled and a better quality of workmanship.
Well Dutch and I got our exercises in today, LB just perched his royal
hiney up on the chair and watched us, good thing Dutch is here to keep
us both motivated..hmmm now isnt that a thought? Sending this cat to
us to keep both LB and I exercised, and on our toes so to speak. If it
wasnt for Dutch all LB and I would do IS lay, or sit for me, around all the
time. :-) The Lord works in mysterious ways doesn't HE ? :-) Blessings
come in ALL types, even disguised as a furry little creature. HE sees
what we need. . . I get so mad at Dutch. but look at that face up top, see
some wings behind him? :-) Isn't that a precious face? Thats my boy.
Well time to make a kitchen attack :-) this fuzzy snippin weeble is a
tad hungry and something in my fridge is calling me I think.. I hear a
noise out there..ohoh, I hope I didnt leave a bag of anyhing out, Dutch
is out there I think, he's not in here.. maybe the kitchen attack will have
to be at HIM ~!~ got to run.. Nitey Nite...
Y'all have a good one now y'hear? LUV YA~!~ & Thanks.. :-)
ALways, Lois***

Dear Lois,
Those wings are pretty well hidden. I thought I could detect a pair of lumps on top of his head, though, just between the ears. Budding horns?? lol.
Love and hugs,
Raife
