~Wrist Snappin~

As I transferred into bed last night, I really don't know what
I did wrong, maybe just put my hand wrong.. When I transfer
onto my bed, I put my hand into a fist, and use that to move
myself..it picks me up higher so my ... well.. so I don't DRAG.
When I went to make the main move onto my bed, first I
reached over with my left hand in a fist my right one was on the
lower part of the arm rest in front of my chair.. I started to swing
my weight over onto my bed when suddenly my wrist sort of just
snapped and bent over to the side, which really hurt. I sat for a
second, almost afraid to move it..my first thought was that
I had sprained it or worse broken it.. THATS all I would need.

I didn't do any damage, but that sure made me see just how
easily I could do that If Im not careful.. I had come down the
stairs once, stepped wrong when I got to the bottom..my
left foot went side ways, and I broke my leg just above the
ankle.. I did that on both legs to be exact.. I fell just before
I lost my right leg bk.. and broke it.. same thing.. my foot
tipped to the side, snapping my ankle.. Well my hand all
fisted up more or less is now, when I transfer, my legs..I
could easily snap my wrist.. I saw that all too clearly last
nite.. I will be a lot more careful..and make sure before I
do that swing over onto my bed my wrists are stable and
I wont snap them..

When I transfer I always put my left stump first.. Its longer,
and heavier and I think gives me more stability when I make
that swing from my chair on to the bed.. I try to do it in one
move which means a bit of a lift up and move to the side,
then scoot around to where I want to sit.. Each one of the
moves I make though I do use my hand and most times its
in a fist..If I am just doing like a reposition then I will lay my
hand flat.. but even doing that..my wrist could still snap and
break.. The joys of chair life.. Always something.. But if that
did happen and I broke one or God forbid, both wrists.. I
would be in serious trouble.. I would have to use my elbows.
now, THAT would NOT be easy.. This is hard enough!

Penny didn't show up today, it was really bad yesterday and
I guess shes snowed in.. She phoned said she couldn't get
her car out.. I told her she needed to have her friend get her
a snow blower so she could get un snowed.. I am hoping she
will come by tomorrow to wait till Wednesday ..its not that
bad, I have food and so do the boys.. I just had things I had
to have her do today and well I guess Wednesday is as
good as any just later to get things sent out... So Mary, you
have a card coming my friend, its just gonna be late getting
to you .. and its NOT my fault.. :-)

I have some left over goulash from yesterday, which by the
way is VERY good.. I surprise my self sometimes.. I am so
glad Im a "good cooker" as Kelli used to tell me.. but then I
think it shows :-) Look at this GORGEOUS WEEBLE :-) I
need food and out of this chair..CAREFULLY too..
"nitey nite" :-)

Y'all have a good one now, Y'hear? love ya, and thanks! :-)
ALways, Lois ****

God Bless you, is my prayer today,
I'm so honored to call you "friend";
I pray the Lord will keep you safe,
Until I write again.....

Lois how is your wrist doing??? is it sore???...getting anything broke will make it very hard for sure. Are you going to get it check out??? with the weather like it is sure would make it hard to go anywhere right now.
I didn't have to work last night, wow was I so glad...I did not want to get all the ice off my car to go home in the morning...or drive on those icess streets. And I sure don't want to fall on that ice ever again.
Stay home all day and clean out closets and a few other places that needed it. School was out because of all the ice we got, so I put Michael to work too.
He went to bed early, I work him to hard I think.
I got a meeting in the morning for Pam and Michael, wondering if it going to get cancel. And a trip to the DDS for Michael at 2 PM, I think the roads will be ok then, it 20 miles from here.
    God bless you Lois.
    Mary
