~New Outfits Are Great~ :-)
with 2 matching tops. Its wonderful..and I love the color. I
didn't have turquoise would you believe it? I bet I have most
colors but not this.. The top has lace at the neck and on the
sleeve that Is beautiful..Makes it really dressy which I like ...
Even though I don't go anywhere and the only one really sees
me is myself..when it comes right down to it.. Penny comes
3 times a week for a few hours..and I only see Theresa every
2 weeks, same with Rebecca..Well I do see the lunch girl, a
new one now but that's only for a few moments, just a in and
out delivery.. She does stop and pet the boys tho..most every
one has to if they come here..House Rules :-) But I Dress up
for me.. I like me.. :-) and I love to look GORGEOUS.. :-)

I havent decided which color I like best, the brown or the
turquoise, I like them both and of course I look just GORGEOUS
in both... I think how I dress helps a lot in how I feel.. even though
I am here and mostly only see myself. I like to look nice, and when
I know I do I feel better.. When I was in the HHome, I dressed every
day with the best I had, I put on makeup and jewelry and I had my
hair done once a week.. I looked good all the time.. I was a sak
most of the time I was in there so I wore pants back then but I did
wear dresses too or skirts.. It was easy to wear pants back then with
one leg, I could stand and get dressed..getting dressed sitting down I
can never get my top or skirt adjusted right.. The main thing I have to
adjust is to make sure I don't sit on a wrinkle..those will scream at me
if I don't smooth them out and they can cause a sore spot really fast.
For something to do I used to make bracelets when I was in the HHome,
For something to do I used to make bracelets when I was in the HHome,
before I started to sew again..My sis came by with a huge round tin full
of beads of every kind and color and size you could imagine.. There
was elastic cord in different colors too. I had a lot of fun with that.. matching
the beads..and I made some really pretty bracelets..When I would venture
out of my room for the day, I would put 3 or 4 of the bracelets on each arm.
Then proceed to wander around. When I would come up to one of the ladies
there of course the first thing you notice on another woman is either her
clothes or her jewelery..They loved the braclets..When they would see one
they liked on my arm I would take it off and give it to them.. The look on
the faces of these ladies was so great to see.. I don't think I could have
given them any thing that they liked better.. Pretty soon all the women,
even some of the staff were wearing my bracelets.. We all were decked
out there.. Gave those dearies a smile..and that was what they were
meant to do...
meant to do...
My sister crochets lap afghans and makes quilts for the nursing home
and the rehab where I was.. I know some brought them to the HHome
when I was there and they were so appreciated.. One lady, Helen, had
been given a lovely quilt.. Some days Helen was fine..other days she
was a bit cloudy on what she knew or said.. She saw me by the desk,
and she rolled up to me and told me someone had taken her quilt..I
looked at her and she had these HUGE crocodile tears streaming
down her lovely face.. "Lois..it was my best quilt, its gone." she told me.
I felt so bad for her, I wasn't sure what to do to get it back..If it was
I felt so bad for her, I wasn't sure what to do to get it back..If it was
accidentally given to another resident..that could cause problems.. I
decided the first place to check was the laundry. I went and knocked on
the door and asked the lady if she knew where Helen's quilt was, had
she seen it.. She said she didn't think she had, and while she was telling
me I looked over to the right to a row of shelves and up on the top one
was Helen's quilt.. I asked why it was up there, apparently they didn't
know whos it was so they put it aside .. I have doubts that was the real
reason but I asked for it so I could take it back to Helen...
Before I gave it to her I went to the desk and asked for a marker to put
Helen's name on her quilt.. I took the pen..and went in search of her. She
was sitting in her room staring out the window looking so sad.. I rolled
very quietly up next to her, reached out and touched her arm.. "Helen,
I have something for you" and I put her quilt over her lap.. She turned to
me and just about cried she was so happy.. I showed her the pen I had
brought with me.. and I told her we were going to put her name on that
quilt, so it is never lost again...That made it even better..I left her room
and looked back at that dearie sitting there by that window..all she really
had was that quilt and it gave her such comfort..Small things can mean
so very much to you.. that little square of colors made her so happy..
that's what matters.. I felt good that I helped to get her happy back :-)
