~Remembering~
Woke up to more snow and steady falling all day.. I sat
and looked out the window, remembering the place that
my ex husbands mother had, well where she lived with her
significant other, Jim..It was his house left to him by a very
special friend. The back of the house overlooked the St. Joe
River, sort of pretty high up, there was a long flight of steps
to get up to the deck, towards the end I couldn't climb them
at all... The view from the back of their house was wonderful.
They had sliding glass doors that went out onto a huge deck,
and the rest of the wall was glass.. lovely place. Jim's favorite
spot was a small table he had there by the window, that's
where he Sat during the winter or at night, other wise when he
was home he was out on the deck sitting..There was a big
pontoon down in the water, but I think all the years I was in
that family Jim only was in it one Time..and that was to show
David the safe route down the river to the dam...
The pontoon was huge, had table, radio, even a potty if the
need arose. Half of it was covered by a canopy, which made
it nice for in the summer if you cruised and needed some
shade. It had 2 huge inboard motors..and the captains chair,
well made you feel like you were captain it was such a nice
set up when you sat there and controlled everything on it..We
took the pontoon out every time we went there. Usually every
Sunday Jim would bbq, during the summer, and even some
times during the winter I remember him cooking steaks out
on his grill.. He loved to do that and he was good at it...of
course we loved the food too..Davids mother was an excellent
cook, well they both were..they cooked together, which is a
fun thing to do ..
When I married my last husband, well, he didn't even really know
how to make anything but soup..from a can.. We would cook
together.. I would do all the cutting and preparing, while he got
the meat cooking. He did all the stirring and blending which after
awhile David got to be a really good cook..and surprisingly he
really enjoyed cooking and using all the spices and seeing what
kind of new recipe he could come up with.. We had a nice little
convienent kitchen..easy to cook in..
I miss cooking.. I sit here and I think of different foods that I make
that I really like a lot, but to prepare them is actually a huge job. At
least here in this kitchen.. I have to keep everything in a certain
spot, then when I want to cook something, I have to move one thing
to a place to make room for what I want to use.. Like my electric
frying pan..be fore I can use it.. I have to make a spot for it, which
is on my wood dining room table that I have in the kitchen.. This
is my mothers table now, that im using, so needless to say I am
VERY careful what is put on it.. But to use my frying pan or my
crock pot, or deep fryer or even my microwave, I have to fix a
place where I can use it so it wont damage my table..
I had some McD's cini mini's which are SO good, very easy to make
at home too, I put them in my microwave to heat up a bit, and when
it stopped they were way on the back of the turntable, I couldn't reach
them, I had to turn it on again to get that table to bring them to the
front where I can just barely reach them.. I love my microwave..its a
combo one..it will cook as a microwave, but also as a regular oven
that I can use metal pans.. There is are 2 tray things you have to use
when you use it that way which I keep on top, which means moving
the spice thing I keep on top of it..which is again moving stuff to be
able to do just one simple thing.. The joys of a small house.. Of course
it would be different though if I could stand and move around in there,
then I could reach everything.. Although when it comes to reaching, I
always seem to keep the cookies with in reach.. Now I wonder why?
I had an excellent visit with Dawn and Ralph, was really nice to see
him again..He and I both were recuperating at Donnies at the same
time, he stayed in his own trailer he had there though, but he was in
a chair, so he knows the joys of it..Hes doing really good now , but
sadly said he got laid off from his job in Ohio, I hope he can get a
new one.. He may move back around here as this is where most of
his family is.. He looked really good, fatter and uglier I told him..he
told me I had a lot of room to talk..we laughed. They stayed for quite
awhile..which I was glad.. We talked about old times..he plans to go
back to Ohio on Sunday.. I hope all is well there for him..hes a nice
guy and a good friend and he has the same name as my dad..Ralph.
good name..
Time to get some dinner and post this and get out Of this chair for
today, some days I can stay in it longer than I can on others, but
today is a short day for chair sitting for this SHORT GORGEOUS

Hi Lois
You really have some great memories of your life. Shame you are so restricted now. You were obviously a very active person. We are baking in 24-30 degree temps at present although today has been a little cooler. You thumb looks kinda not sooo good. The Dr is probably a wise move although like me you dread the thought.
Just in the process of checking out some fishing tackle for catching sea fish. Luckily I have a cabin boat which has been very much under used and I have made a resolution this year that it will make it to the ocean more often & fishing will take place. Lol
That pontoon boat sounded like a beauty. Have always thought that a nice houseboat would be neat but they are no good at sea. Bit lumpy.
I will leave you to your snow. The sun will return b4 you know it & you'll be thinking its too hot. Lol
Cheers for now. Keep the chin up & the sense of humour going.
Regards

Hi, Honey,
What great memories. Though they tell me that nostalgia is not what it used to be!!
You have such romantic names for places, in the States, "St, Joe River" has a ring about it, unlike "Thames" and you couldn't replace "The Wichita Lineman" with "The Potters Bar Lineman", now, could you?
Keep those memories coming, please. But isn't it about time you put them all together in that best seller? Be what the Beatles sang about - "Paper Back Writer"!!!
Take care, Honey, L.O.L. & G.B.H. from
