~Watching A Transfer~
Yesterday afternoon I was sitting at the kitchen table,
I look at the yard, watch the birds and I noticed across,
over at that house where they built that new ramp a few
days ago and I saw a car pull up to the door.. The driver
pulled up, then moved ahead a bit, stopped and moved up
again.. Like she wasn't sure where to exactly stop.. I
watched as this woman, she looked perhaps in her twentys,
got out of the car, walked around to the trunk, opened it
and took out a wheel chair. I could tell she was NOT used
to handling a chair, which makes me think this man is new
to it.. well he must be if they only just put in the ramp..DUH!
Well.. when she put the wheel chair on the ground..and pushed
it up to the car door, she didn't go around to the passenger
side but walked all the way up on the drivers side, around
the front of the car, THEN down to the passenger door,
which would mean she would have to go past the door then
turn the chair around for the man to get into it ,then back
it up so she was able to push it up the ramp.. Why she didn't
go up the passenger side I don't know, that's why I think
she was new at that too...She will learn the easy way... :-)
Logically, anyone, I would think it would be ovbious that
THAT would be the way to get the chair up to the man. NOT
go all the way around the other side.. She got him into the
chair.. but, bless her heart, she made a lot more extra work
for herself. Which, me, I take the shortest, easiest and
safest way to do things.. I watched to see if the man stood
up, but I did not see him stand.. I didn't have my binoculars
and by the time it would have taken me to go in and get
them in the bedroom closet this would be over.. I was
curious to watch how she did since she started out taking
the long way on this transfer..
I watched as she pushed him up the ramp and its a tad steep,
I bet for the man to do it alone, its about like the one I
had.. and It was NOT easy to go up it alone.. very hard.. But
anyway, I watched her push him.. and I saw only one leg
move to sort of walk or help push his chair.. When they got
to the door the woman gave him the key and he opened it
and I noticed as he started over the threshold it was like
mine.. it wasn't easy and I saw him hold on to the sides
of the door way to pull himself in and I saw the chair
sort of bump its way across it.. He made it inside.. A short
time later I saw the woman come out and get his mail.. I
wonder how he gets it the other times.. I see a car parked
over there sometimes, and I think the guy drives that truck
that now is parked on the back end of the house..
the house is really a double wide mobile home with a roof
built over it.. Joe never did tell me who he was but he knows
him and was curious as to who built the ramp too.. That was
my dinner entertainment last nite.. I have such an EXCITING
 life.. :-)
Anyhoway, Penny came today and so did Rebecca.. Shes so
pretty.. sweet girl.. She was raised here in this little town
so she knows it quite well, her parents live somewhere here.
I invite Rebecca here when ever she comes up here, but
according to Keystone rules they are not to associate with
us other than doing their jobs.. like we are bad people or
something.. I know this for a fact cuz I was friends with
one of the workers there, Scott, and he was NOT allowed
to visit me once I moved from there or he could lose his
job.. I found that kind a mean.. but their rules, so Ive not
seen or heard from Scott.. he was very nice to me while I
was there and many times I would wake during the night
and he was always there for me to whine to.. Very nice
 guy...
Its true, we now get supper meals.. and to be honest? the
supper meals are better.. They are usually cold.. like stuff
to make a salad or sandwich.. I really like them.. whom ever
made that cucumber salad.. WONDERFUL!! todays looks
pretty good, and lunch is meatloaf which is one of my
very best favs next to fries n'gravy :-).. Kinda cool but
very sunny day.. Dutch loves the sunny days and doesn't
budge off the kitchen table soaking up every bit of it..
Hes almost HOT when I touch him.. LB he goes back and
forth hes been very restless and actually MEAN.. I was
petting him, rubbing his belly like always, and he put his
ears down , lowered his head and I saw that look on his
face and he bit the daylights out of my arm.. I almost
slapped him.. instead I grabbed him and bit him back!!
:-D no no.. just kidding, I did push him off the bed tho!
I couldn't bite him where it would hurt him anyway!.. :-)
I wasn't sure what to write about today and look at this,
I seem to always think of something don't I? :-) Post
time and for my GORGEOUS WEEBLE "g'day, g'day"...
Y'all have a good one now, Y'hear? love ya and THANKS!
Always, Lois ****

Transfers: I swing George from his power chair to his bed or to his bathroom chair. Altho he is 6'3" or 1m-75 and weighs 170lbs or 80kg he is easy to transfer because he helps.
re meals on wheels: they are trying to deliver frozen meals - so far it hasn't worked. Not a lot of thje elderly have microwave cookers.
