~Patience Pays~
Yesterday was a great day.. I am most grateful :-) I had
patience and it paid off, in the form of my new birdbath!
Penny looked and looked, we waited and Penny got this
Penny looked and looked, we waited and Penny got this
one yesterday for $6.00. as in SIX... The sand almost cost
as much, it was $4.00 for a 75 pound bag, which was the
smallest the lumber company had. Right here in town too.
Luckily Penny could lift it. And then didn't take much to
Luckily Penny could lift it. And then didn't take much to
fill the base of the birdbath. Its just for weight, so the
wind doesn't carry it off. But I am sure enjoying the birds
spashing in it. They are happy too! They have a nice spot
out there, shady when the hot afternoon sun is out, but
nice morning sun...Patience paid off for me AND the
birds , we are all happy, the boys too, they love to see
the action out there :-)
We had lots of company for coffee this morning as you

We had lots of company for coffee this morning as you
see.. Rabbits and all the birds, Carl even walked by, he
knows that If I am in the doorway that its possible I
will take his picture :-) Joyce said she will always be
prepared :-) They cut the grass yesterday, Joyce drives
that lawn mower like its a race car. The reverse is in
the gas pedal, she just hits her heel and that mower
goes back and she can really operate that thing.. If they
boys came by, Donnie :-) Hes such a good kid. Working
again and hes glad, they have him driving semi hauling
stuff from one warehouse to another. He knows all the
short cuts and makes it in good time. He relayed a couple
of incidents that made his trip better and made him
smile.. Said he saw some spots in the road ahead, so
slowed the truck down, came to a stop and saw 2 baby
deer playing in the road, just having a good time. Here is
Donnie sitting in that big truck, cant get past them,
and these 2 fawns did NOT care, they played on..
Finally, Donnie said after about 10 minutes of letting
Finally, Donnie said after about 10 minutes of letting
these babies play he HAD to get on the road again,
He said he tapped on the windshield and even yelled
out the window, they paid no attention to him...
Donnie says "Gran, I HAD to go". I smiled and he says
"I reached up, pulled the horn, just one blast, and those
2 fawns both jumped straight up, one ran for the woods,
his little skinny legs just going as fast as they could.
The other jumped up, got so scared his feet went so fast
that he went up in the air and like you see in cartoons,
that poor little thing all 4 legs went flat and it landed on
its belly, scared to death, finally got his feet back under
him and did a circle and ran into the woods after the other."
Donnie said it was so funny.. There is NO telling what you
Donnie said it was so funny.. There is NO telling what you
will see on these country roads...
A few more miles later, Donnie says he sees a few more
spots in the road, he slows again, and there are 2 Amish
boys chasing cows, one of the calves get onto the road
and the 2 boys are trying to catch it.. the calf runs down
the middle of the road STRAIGHT at Donnie in that
huge semi.. He said the look on those boys faces was
shock and they didn't know what to do :-) Donnie just
stopped the truck and waited for them to pass :-) He
said they DID catch the calf :-)
So anyway, the boy didn't stay long, he looks like a boy
hey? hes a big guy. As nice as he is big too :-)
But as Donnie was going out the door I asked him if
he wanted that bag of sand.. He says "Gran, I LIVE
on a LAKE! I have LOTS of sand !" Smarty.. :-) I told
him to dump it in HIS LAKE then ! I didn't need it..
He took it with him plus a few things after he raided
my freezer, which is usual :-) and I don't mind :-)
Well I am most pleased and I slept great last night.
I woke up feeling better than I have in over a month
now, I hope this, what ever it is that is dragging me
down is going away. Ive been neglectful but Ive just
not been up to par as they say, I AM trying, and nice
days like yesterday sure do help :-)
This GORGEOUS WEEBLE is gonna enjoy this day
and I hope you do too.. Aint easy, but well its all we
got, so ya gotta make the best of it and carry on.
My favorite word.. TRY :-) And I know I sure have
this past month.. :-) "I'll be back!" :-)
Y'all have a good one now, Y'hear? luv ya and Thanks!

Hi, Honey,
LOVE the birdbath! That looks SO good. I'll bet you are really proud of that. Well done.
Love the stories about the fawns and the calves, too. That is just the sort of thing that can happen here on Exmoor. (Except, there ain't no room for girt big semis in our narrow country lanes.) There is one lane just leading into Dulverton that the satnavs send big trucks down as a short cut, and it's only 6ft, 6ins wide. SO, they get jammed!!
Wonderful things, satnavs!!!
Take care, Honey,
Luv Ya,
Raife

Hello Lois
Love all the pictures you put in your blog.
I like deers but hate to see them in the road or even seeing them while in the car on the road no matter who driving.
I've hit a few, sure wish it didn't happen...
Bob fell sideway this morning on the floor, I think he ok...but his right knee hurt him for a while...I was worried he might not be able to get up but he did. He took a pain pill early for it, he only take 1/2 the pain med they gave him anyways...he don't like taken pills...
God bless you Lois.
