~I Don't Do Floors~ :-)
| A few people have asked me if I get on the floor or would I use like a cart thingie to get around, putting me even closer to the floor.. And for me, no. I have seen some people that do like to get down on the floor to do things but for me that would make me even shorter and plus the fact unless you never have company its not exactly the cleanest place to be... Ive seen some, like that movie with Eddie Murphy pretending he was a amputee, I dont remember the movie.. but Ive also seen some women amputees using these carts and they are perhaps only a few inches above the floor.. Why would you want to be even shorter than what being in a chair makes you..Perhaps its the feeling of walking? I have no idea. I complain because I cant reach even my shelves in the cupboard and I am in my chair. I would reach even less from the floor. I do have a friend that is a dak as well and she can get in and out of her chair quite well and for her its relaxing to lay on the floor and watch tv etc. I never was a floor person. She likes to do exercises etc while down there. I do the same thing, but on my bed... When I am laying watching tv I do lift my stumps up and down..move them side to side.. when I have been sitting for hours and hours at a time when I do scoot onto my bed it does feel really good to move my stumps around and its good for them I think.. I ve been asked a few times do my stumps move very well.. Yes, they do. Just like full length legs would.. they are just Shorter is all.. When a person withl all their legs move them the whole leg moves as its moving from the hips..so mine move just fine.. In fact I think move easier as its not moving a whole LONG leg lol. I dont think however that they will ever get the muscle tone back that I would have from walking on them. By that kind of use the muscles stay more firm and solid.. where mine from lack of use have gotten so very soft which is from the sitting for 5 years...I would love to stand tho. I have tried to stand on the ends of my stumps.. and to me it is quite uncomfortable. I didnt like the feeling and it felt very strange. Like I was dragging stuff LOL.. dont ask what either ...I just didnt like it..and it did kinda hurt a bit.. even tho the end of the bone is very flat...the pressure I felt on the muscle I didnt like at all. But then there are some that I have seen have no problem with it, like that young man I saw on tv that was a quad amputee and just got around so fast I was amazed at what he could do...but then too hes been that way since little and his stumps were used to him "walking" on them..... Well my boys are fighting and I guess its gonna take a referee to get them to break it up and show them whos boss. I keep trying to tell them I am the Head Kittie here..I rule lol they pay NO attention to me. Kids...lol.. :-) We got snow snow and MORE snow..beginning to look alot like Christmas here.. Then next month I'm a year older, my birthday is the 20th of January, sadly last year on my birthday my oldest sister died. and now we are 4, when once we were 6. Time marches on...y'all gotta march......I get to ride lol... Y'all have a good one now y'hear? luv ya.. thanks... Always, Lois *** (aka:Shorty .. lol) May God Bless you today, I'm so honored to call you friend, I pray the Lord will keep you safe, Until I write again... | |||
