~Ice Stormin~

This is a early post today..We are getting that awful ice storm
quite severely.. Raelynn just came by and said lines are down
all around..the hospital only 2 blocks from me..across the street
there is no power.. The electric if off all around.. My power
flashed a short time ago..so I may be next to loose electricity.
It started raining last nite. by this morning it was so cold that the
lines started to go from the weight of the ice on them.. . . Right
now its snowing..this could get a lot worse.. I am not really worried
other than the fact with no electric..means no heat..that would not
be good.. I would have no way to even cook.. Raelynn & Dolly
have gas to cook with so they will still have heat, and can still
cook.. just no lights or tv..or radio..well if they have battery stuff
then they would..but most people dont..and they used candles
last nite they said..they have been with out power for a long
time.. I sure hope I don't lose it.. I don't know what I would do, I
would have to go somewhere else till its restored I guess...

I was a little upset today, I had to call and cancel my Dr. for
tomorrow. I called COA on Friday to arrange for a ride with
their van, which I have taken many times, apparently only a
certain few are privileged to use it..the rest have to pay for a
bus which is $3.oo each way which would be 6 total.. Its not
alot..the office is 2 blocks away from me.. Norma at COA said
I had to use the bus that I could go to COA and get passes so
that then it only cost me 75 cents each way..I am NOT paying
for it .. I will call my insurance company and they will send a van
at no charge to pick me up and take me.. I don't like the idea
that only 'certain' people are being given the free rides by the
van that COA has..I believe they have 3 now. What they use
them for I have no idea..since they don't hold but 1 chair at a
time and only maybe 3 or 4 people. So, when I called on Friday
Norma said she would phone back today and let me know
about the ride for tomorrow..well..guess what to day is? its not
only a day of ice storms..its a holiday here. Dr.Kings birthday.
So COA is closed..so much for a phone call back.. I just did
the easy thing and rescheduled and will make other arrange
ments for a ride.. then I wont have to deal with COA on this...I
have NO idea what their problem is.. I bet I find out though..She
knew she wasn't calling back..being that its closed.. For my
insurance company to take me I have to give a weeks notice.

I had no luck making phone calls today..being this ..holiday, ...
everything was closed, so not having to go to the Dr. tomorrow
I will make the calls then..Even my bank was closed today...I
bet theyre probly glad..I think last week I called them 4 times to
ask for info on my account..I did work on it today..and the error
seems to be mine of course.. I know the bank didn't make it.. I
did.. now just a matter of finding it.. I wrote something in that was
not in the right place or amount . . . Usually I can catch them but
this time its hiding from me, needless to say . Its giving me a
headache lol...I know what I'd like to do with this checkbook lol..

Since this door is still not fixed there is a gap all the way around
it.. the cold air just pours in.. I use 2 of my woolbies to keep the
cold out.. Penny pounded 2 nails in up at the very top, one on
each side.. I use my grabber and hold the woolbie and sort of
snag the nail with the woolbie and it hangs there. if Im lucky. I
put one half way and used thumb tacks and put it right on the
very edge of the door so that I don't have to take it down every
day like I do the top one.. If I leave that one up there the door
wont close right..it would get caught, so I take it down before
Penny gets here..then put it back up when I am sure no one else
will be here..Well last nite..when I tried to put the top one up.. I
bet it took me 15 minutes to snag the nails. I would get one..then
go to do the other..then that first one would fall.. I sat there till my
arms ached from holding that grabber up so high.then trying to
hold the woolbie too.. it was NOT easy, after I screamed at it
and said a few choice words..it stayed up..lol..The joys of being
short AGAIN lol..

Im gonna go out and fix some spaghetti, Penny made sauce for
me and it was really good..so while I still have electric I better
take advantage of it..I just hope those with out power and heat
are ok. im really lucky that its ok on this block.. im only 2 blocks
from the hospital .. so they do this area first..Food Time lol..
Nitey nite..

Y'all have a good one, Y'hear? love ya.. and thanks.. :-)
Always, Lois ****

God Bless you is my prayer today,
I'm so honored to call you "friend";
I pray the Lord will keep you safe
until I write again..

    Hi, Hon,
    Hope you still have electricity.
Would it be possible to put a couple of brass eyelets in that woolbie? Then you could hook one over each side. I bet you've got eyelets and a punch in your stuff somewhere?
Take care, Hon, wrap up warm and cozy.

    Hi Lois
I hope you are as snug as a bug in a rug! It is still very mild here in England - just windy and wet! Where in the USA are you? I love looking at snow and ice but hate having to drive in it, so it can stay mild, wet and windy all winter - please!
    Keep warm!

    Hi Mary,
It seems to have mellowed off right here for now.. There are lines down across the street ..but I can see lights down the road..so hopefully power is getting back..it is very cold..

    Hi Julie~!~

Hope you 2 have a great evening..well late by you Julie time for YOU to be in bed young lady lol.. Mary. .snuggle down there, get some hot chocolate for you and hubby and just relax my friend.. you deserve it..

We will be getting the storm Tuesday pm and wednesday. We are expecting the temp to drop below 0C for the first time this heating season. Right now it is 50F or 10C nice and warm. By the time these storms come to the Atlantic coast, they moderate a little.
In your case, if the heat is off a while you should call 911 and go to a shelter.

Lois I was wondering where you were from, if you said I just didn't remember. "Michigan" thank you for asking Julie. I would have got around to it sooner or later.I live in Coffeyville Kansas next to Okla line. Okla sure got it bad in some places with the ice storm.
Yes I am nice and warm here, hoping to stay that way.
Have a good nite Lois, you snuggle down there too.

he had similar weather yesterday. Quite a few trees came down, and the power line to our house broke. Fortunately the crews were repairing the line a few houses down when it happened, so I only lost power for about 45 minutes.

I hope that your new MD appointment is soon and that they can help you. It sounds like your body need some looking-after. Good luck with the van issue!
