~Back Roads~

Was a nice spring day today, I sat for a while and just looked out
the window and noticed quite a few people walking, a couple
kids were on their bikes.. I saw a house down the road and there
was someone already cutting their grass. In their driveway was a
huge RV, the door was open and I watched a woman as she went
in and out looking as though she was cleaning and airing it out.
Probly getting it ready for a nice trip on the road. It was a big one.
Those big vehicles are so nice. I could see me travelling in one of
those for the rest of my days.. a different town anytime a mood
strikes to move on.. The backroads are the most scenic and where
ALL the life is. That's where you see everything..

When David and I lived in the Upper Penninsula it was a great
place to enjoy the out of doors.. David and I moved back there
from Buffalo, NY after my dad died, to be company for my mom.
She was very lost since he died..usually every sunday afternoon
the 3 of us would go for a ride, sometimes to Eagle River or we
would go to Iron Mountain, 46 miles away to go to McDonalds,
it was the closest one. Sometimes we just cruised the back roads
to spot some wild animals..lots of times we saw deer of course
and occasionaly we would see a bear.

While we were still in Buffalo I had tried to describe the area to
David..knowin he was an outdoors person that he would love it
up there. Of course there is NO description that could do it
justice as far as beauty. When we arrived there it was late at
night and dark, David couldnt see the area at all..The next
morning he got up, looked out the window at all the hills and
woods and trees, he turned and looked at me, smiled as big
as he could and his words were "I think I died and went to
Heaven" from that second on he kept his fishing rod in the
gun rack in the back window of his truck...he was armed ..
and many times on his way home from work he would stop
by the river and fish...

I showed David around and took him to places that I know
were my dads best favorite fishing spots. One Sunday early
in the morning we decided to go fishing.. I drove as I knew
where I wanted to take him to fish.. I decided to take him
up into a place called Gibbs City, even though there was
not the first inkling of a town ever being there. However
through this part of the forrest, runs the paint river which is
one of the BEST fishing rivers in the UP. I took him to alot
of spots and every place we stopped David caught fish
after fish.. I think his statement on the way home was
"I NEVER want to leave here" We did, and now I am here
and the last I heard David was in Mexico. I bet he misses
that place up there..He got his first deer, well buck up in
the UP I bet he still has the horns.. It is a beautiful place to
live. I could handle living up there again If I could live on
one of the zillion lakes up there, or even the Great Paint
River...:-)

The area here is nice, has a lot of lakes but farm land as
well and orchards. And we arent that far from Lake MI .
and there is a casino over there that I always threaten
to go to.. I sure would love to go there and WIN..I dont
wanna go if I cant win :-) be good if it was guaranteed
before you go.. Speaking of going, I am going to go
and fix my dinner and my boy is not feeling real good to
day, hes got the pukies..and I know its just some of the
food he eats so fast..Hes feeling puny and is in my lap,
its hard to type when you have a big cat laying on your
arms.. :-)

Anyway, I writ my 2 cents for today, plus I cant think of
anything more to write about.. Tomorrow I will dig out some
old photos and see what memories they stir up.. So its
Time for my famous GORGEOUS WEEBLE words..
"Nitey Nite" ...

Y'all have a good one now, Y'hear? love ya..and thanks !!!
Always, Lois ****

God Bless you is my prayer today,
I'm so honored to call you "friend";
I pray the Lord will keep you safe
until I write again..

It is so wonderful Lois, it sound like you had lot of fun.
I use to fish a lot till we went into foster care...never anytime for me to fish much after that.
Pam had lab this morning, so we all went out for a bit to eat afterward...and the only way to talk her into it.
Pam is doing so much better with the new med...her staff is so happy now...and she has not walk to my house for a while...
Becky is going to the wound care place Monday morning for her leg.
It only take a hour to get there.

Lois it is so wonderful to read what you have done in life...
    God bless you Lois.

    Hi, Honey,
The Northern Peninsular sounds a lot like Exmoor, only on a much larger scale (isn't EVERYTHING in the U.S. of A??!!!) even the camper vans!!
I know, jealousy will get me nowhere!!
Exmoor was once a mining area, the old incline that led from the hills to the plane below and thence to the sea is still there, as are the remains of one of the pumping houses that held a Cornish pumping engine. There is a Miners' Chapel, the Mine Captain's house and some miners' cottages, also the Inn, at Ralegh's Cross - a rather nice Pub now.
It is amazing how, in a relatively few short years, Nature softens an industrial site.
Take care, my Fav Weeble. L.O.L. & G.B.H. from

    Hi Mary.. :-)
I am sure this is a big relief to you.. knowing shes doing so much better. I hope they can get that fixed for Becky,
Im glad you like what I write Mary means alot to me to know that you read..and take the time to let me know that you do..

    Hi Raife!
Most of the mine shafts and buildings have been torn down and the only places that you would know there was a mine was by the ground caved in.. :-) the mines are what made that a thriving place..now its very unpopulated and its sad.. but thats progress..

So nice to hear from you :-)
    Always, Lois ****
