~Mackchickanee~
When David and I lived in Green Bay, we really liked itthere, being the outdoor people we were, it was made
for us. Fishing especially, winter or summer. There
was a place on the way to Oconto called Mackchickanee
Flowage, in Stiles.. There is fishing on both sides. What
time of year depends on what you fish for. Some big
browns will swim up there where the deep water is by
the dam. David and I had gone one day to fish for trout.
The flies had just hatched and were everywhere. At
times you could see the fish jump out of the water which
just egged the fishermen on even more . David included.
I sometimes would just sit and watch and not fish at all..

I sometimes would just sit and watch and not fish at all..There were a lot of guys there that day and right across
from us was a guy that David worked with that was trying his
luck too. They would yell back and forth asking if they had
got a bite or what lure or bait were they using. David wasn't
getting any bites at all and deliberately lied to his friend
across the way, Ron, he didn't want to look bad..heaven forbid
you don't know what to use to get at least ONE fish... David
sat and sat, for I know over an hour..we talked and I finally
asked him "what lure are you using?".. he was in the process
of reeling his line in and showed me he had small lure but a
shiney one.. I told him he needed a fly.. I said, "don't you see
the flies all around and on the water ? "Well of course he
disagreed and tossed his line back out.. I decided to make
him a fly... and told him so.. He actually laughed at me.. He
 just never believed me .
I searched all through his tackle box, didn't find anything but
I found a hook and that was about it. I started to look around
and saw some bird feathers and went and got one and held it
on the hook, took some fishing line and wrapped it around..tied
it off and told David "I made you a fly". David turned and
looked at this pitiful excuse for one and laughed really loud.
I had to admit it wasnt the best looking but hey, a fly is a fly.
He yelled across to his buddy Ron, "HEY! the wife made me a
He yelled across to his buddy Ron, "HEY! the wife made me a
lure, a fly, I'm gonna try it out". They BOTH laughed.. David
tied it on..cast it out..and waited... after about 5 minutes or
so I saw his line go, he felt it..looked at me and yelled out
WHAT THE HELL!" He pulled back too fast and SPLASH,
WHAT THE HELL!" He pulled back too fast and SPLASH,
the fish got off his line. I swear he almost cried, I smiled,
and Ron looked totally confused .. :-)
Ron, across the way, yells to him "Where'd you get that fly
Lois?" I laughed that time and said "I made it". I no
sooner got the words out of my mouth and BAM! David
got a big hit, almost pulled his rod out of his hand, he
wasn't expecting it.. he thought my lure was a joke.. I
looked at him and told him, I TOLD you I used to make
flys for my Dad.. you thought I was kidding." David
said I believe you NOW as he reels in that fish in the
picture... David looked at me and said "Thanks!" lifts
his fish up to show Ron, smiling widely, then his buddy
yells over "HEY! you got more of those flies, make me
one would ya?" I told David to give the fly to his buddy,
as we left he came running up to the car to get it and
ran back to put it on his line.. I told David "if he gets a
fish too I'm gonna patten that fly"...
The next day was Monday, when David got home from
work I asked him about Ron, he said "would you believe
he got 2 really nice big ones, he took some photos and
is gonna bring them for you to see it, he said to thank
you VERY much for the fly" I asked David if he was
a believer YET, that I knew how to fish? He smiled
and finally admitted that I knew how. Green Bay had
so many great places all along the lake and the jetty
things in Octonto had some excellent fishing too..Go
to Green Bay you will find out.. They not only have the
BIG lake but they have a BIG river too..the FOX..
great for fishing. The Oconto Jettys are great, and
Voyageur Park is wonderful to fish as well....but
 those are another story... :-)
Well I did not have lunch, it was icky, I had a biscuit
and sausage that Penny picked up on her way here this
morning through a torrential thunderstorm, so I wasn't
hungry at lunch, now I am... but only a snack is all I
really need.. my chair fits me just right I need to keep
it that way :-) Didn't get a call from the referer today
so I will call again tomorrow, both arms are really bad,
and they hurt and itch.. Needs to be fixed... I'm ready,
for the Dr and out of this chair, so its time for my
 GORGEOUS WEEBLE "Nitey Nite" :-)
Y'all have a good one now, Y'hear ? Love ya and THANKS!
 Always, Lois ****
God Bless You, is my prayer today,

This is really funny, and for me it is a sort of sign..... We two are connected to eachother in more than one way.... Seems like our minds are united. GUESS WHAT i was talking about with the dragon this morning???
Flyfishing!!!! Aint it odd? I have NEVER talked about that subject before, with anyone at all. And you write about it the same time i think about it....
Kisses all over the magnificent gem (you).
