~My Wardrobe Is DONE~ :-D

Ive been watching the hurricane on the weather channel.
I know lots of people down there in Houston and Pasadena.
I sure hope they are ok.. Where I lived, in Pasadena was
just off Red Bluff Road.. I KNOW it floods there. In fact
Ive written a few stories about how badly Houston and
the area floods so easily..now with a category 3 hurricane,
well I KNOW its bad there.. And that hurricane hit right
where my house I hope still is.. Edmond street, just off
Thomas and Red Bluff.. I know took a direct hit..

The whole time I lived there I remember some storms
but I don't believe a hurricane came thru if it did it wasn't
too bad.. I know that day we went and got that boat it rained
big time.. I don't think was hurricane though. We almost had
to ride home in that boat! I know there was one time that
Willie and I were headed home in the truck as we started
going into our neighborhood we saw the streets were flooding.
Willie drove slow and only created a slight wake as if he was
gently pushing the water away. I looked down and saw water
up to my ankles while I sat there. I looked at Willie and he
said "just hang on, we will do fine and get to the house, don't
worry.." it was a guess as to where the streets were, but
we did make it..our house was high and dry.. I bet its not
this time.

Luckily the truck being so high up and the carburetor up on
top the motor as long as that doesn't get wet the truck would
keep moving.. That's why he drove so slow.. even the headlights
were under water.. It was really scarey. The drainage system
slows dramatically when its flooding.. At the corners, like here
is where they drain.. Some of these drain openings a small child
or dog could easily be swept into them.. I had heard of a parent
letting their child play on the curb not paying attention to the
rapid flow of water going into the drain.. I don't think they
realized that a child could get washed down there..

As fast as the blink of an eye, the little girl was there and the
next she was gone.. Luckily there was a ledge down in there or
something that snagged the child and when rescue workers
got into the drain they got her out.. It was a miracle..The guy
that went into that drain took a lot of courage to do that not
knowing what was down there.. The water was draining so fast,
that when the girl stepped into it..it pulled her off her little
feet and Blip! just that fast she was in that drain... Scarey..

I think the worst part of flooding is the snakes. when the water
went down I don't think Ive ever seen so many that I had NO
idea were around.. In fact we got a small one out of our bath
room where it had crawled to safety or so it thought, until we
saw it in there.. It wasn't big.. about the size of a grass snake,
called a ground rattler... mean little buggars .. they will strike
at you just like the big rattlers.. It isnt poisionous but sure
will make you think twice that it could be handled... I found
one in my garden in Galena Park.. I put it in a jar to show Sid,
I put my finger on the outside of the glass and that little
thing struck at my finger so hard I think it knocked itself out!
just laid there for the longest time.. I let it go back out in the
garden.. I was just more careful next time.. plus I started to
wear heavier gloves.. I'm not a snake person, or worms or none
of that stuff.. I don't like them at all. spiders or bugs either.

Today is the boys birthday and he came over here on his day
to put this wardrobe together for me.. He and Dawn had to
go and get their new wood stove and stopped by here on the
way back and put it together, its BIG! Its so WONDERFUL!
It sure is nice to be more organized.. These 'some assembly
required' things are almost a joke. It took them about 3 hrs
to put it together.. I love it and I sure am grateful that he
did this for me.. Theyre good kids..

I'm tired and have a lot of work to do as the kids just got
done and left so now I have to re do my bedroom and put
stuff away or I cant sleep tonite, not in my bed anyway!
Time to get busy on my part of this..first my GORGEOUS
WEEBLE "Nitey Nite" :-)

Y'all have a good one now, Y'hear? Love ya and thanks!
Always, Lois ****

"God Bless You", is my prayer today,
I'm honored to call you "friend".
I pray the Lord will keep you safe,
Until I write again...
