~I Called~
I called and talked to a lady with the Brother Sewing Machine
company yesterday, for information about an adapted one
for someone like me with out any legs.. She said all they have
is one with a button that you can turn the machine on and off.
Which, unless you sew, to move your hands away from your
work or to look away from your needle while that machine is
running.. well if your running an industrial machine, you can
do some serious damage in only a split second.. I'm not saying
it wouldn't work, I guess it would take some time to get used
to doing that.. I really think my idea is better, then I don't
have to move my eyes away from my work till the machine
stops.. and it leaves both hands free ALL the time.. I don't
know.. I would have to try it..and how would you control
speed? to go just a stitch at a time? I dunno...
I often wonder if these places that come up with their ideas
that are supposed to help someone that has a disability if
they go to THEM and find out.. or do they just assume how
it would be? Like the lady at the home help place that said
she saw no reason why I couldn't just "scoot across" to get
into a car... She had NO idea what its like.. I will never forget
that remark.. how rude and to me totally showed ignorance
on her part.. and she worked for a home help company... I
will admit I told her off royally.. But I often wonder why
these places like Brother or even that home help place
assume.. and don't get actual facts... I'm not saying it
wouldn't work... but safety wise...I would say no.. I would
have to really try it.. and well with that ladys attitude,
I will stick with a Husqvarna that's the best one made,
its really a Viking, made in Sweden.. Its more durable
and can withstand a lot of use, just like their chain saws.
When I had, well WE had, Willie and I, our tree service,
we used ONLY Husqvarna saws.. They were the very
best.. We found that they withstood constant use AND
in the worst of conditions.. I mean we used our saws when
it was raining, snowing, hot out, cold.. and they withstood
all the use.. Better than any of the others that we had,
their saws are just as durable as their sewing machines.
I give a good reference when they deserve it :-)
I havent mentioned this new cushion.. The difference it
has made is wonderful.. I don't have to lift up and back
all at once.. sure is saving a lot of stress on my arms .. I
am the same height now as the transfer chair and my
bed. Its a little firm but its really great.. Now, just to
get the door fixed, the gas bill lowered and this place
would be absolutely perfect :-) It still is even with those
not done...yet :-)
Penny didn't make it today due to the weather. I worry
about her on those roads with no snow tires. She said
she went out yesterday and slid into the curb. I noticed
the road care here is nothing compared to 3 Rivers. They
were out in the middle of the night sometimes, but that's
how they have to do to stay ahead of it.. We are due to
get over 10, as in TEN inches of snow by tomorrow
morning.. I am already snowed in.. The smiley butt guy
went in and out a few times so he stomped me a small
path out to the driveway, but its not plowed YET. I hope
they get to it AFTER the snow plow goes by.. That plow
leaves a big lumpy across the end of the driveway.. :-)
There HAS to be a method to this madness :-) I am
going to call COA and make arrangements for that guy
to come here and shovel I thought he was but I guess
I need to call and set it up again.. It will save Penny from
doing it.. even though she does carry a shovel in her trunk.
I don't know what I'm going to fix for my dinner today,
I'm not really hungry, but I will find something.. maybe
just some pasta and sauce, sounds good.. Decisions,
Decisions :-) Time to post, eat, and enjoy this snow day,
I don't expect to see anyone now till Monday.. that's ok,
I like time to myself too.. :-) This GORGEOUS WEEBLE
is all snug and warm, happy too.. "G'Day, G'day, I hope
you are too " :-)
Y'all have a good one now, Y'hear? love ya and Thanks!
