~My Machine~
I got my sewing machine out, cleaned it, oiled it, and
gave it a really good over haul.. Sewing machines are
easy to fix and maintain.. not a whole lot can go wrong,
well unless you have one of the new computer ones,
which I don't want.. I have no need for all that fancy
stuff.. I prefer just the 2 main stitches, straight and
zig zag, you can make anything with just those. Ive
run all kinds, from computer to embroidery to double
needle, to sergers.. be easier to name machines I cant
operate and to be truthful I cant think of any :-) I
love to sew :-) Even when I worked for sewing companys,
I didn't mind it at all.. I enjoyed it to be honest, I did
NOT mind going to work.. mainly because I loved the
speed of the industrial machines as theyre called.. To
use one of those then go back to one like mine.. well...
no comparison.. Like comparing a Rolls Royce to a scooter.
There is a picture of my problem with a sewing machine,
There is a picture of my problem with a sewing machine,
and that's the "FOOT" pedal.. I have thought and thought
of how to get around it and my idea is to design a new one
that is more parallel.. like side by side, where no matter
where you press on the flat part the machine will run.. and
it has to be a very light pressure.. With that one, I put that
under my stump, always the right one, and I have to put it
all the way under so that when I push down on it I am using
the bone inside my stump to push it.. Being I am sitting on a
cushion, it takes a lot of pressure to push that lever down.
THEN, see those holes on the side? Those are AIR vents..
THEN, see those holes on the side? Those are AIR vents..
and as soft as my stump is, it just totally covers that and
those vents are blocked, which THEN means it gets HOT!
So MY idea is to make a new kind.. where the top and
bottom plate are side by side, ||... then put it on the side
of my stump so that I am pushing sideways against the
solidness of the arm of my chair... With a light pressure
I think it would be very easy... I see those flat pusher
things for doors.. and I think something like that would
work.. I just need someone to do it for me.. :-) But I
do think that would work!
My machine, sadly, is not well.. I did go over her and she
just is old.. Plus the last 2 years being down that moldy
basement. Its a Montgomery Ward, and given to me when
I was in the Hell Home.. and she has been very good to me.
But I think she has just worn herself out and its time to
But I think she has just worn herself out and its time to
get another one.. Well if I plan to sew .. which I sure
want to start again.. I miss it.. I enjoyed when I had my
own sewing business.. I was, I have to admit, very successful.
I had a shop outside Houston and also provided quite a few
I had a shop outside Houston and also provided quite a few
specialty shops with items I made. I made some killer
welding hats that the welders where my ex brother in law
worked almost fought over :-) One of the last things my ex
said to me was "Whos gonna make my shirts for me now?"
You KNOW what I said.."you will have to buy them like every
one else"... he wasn't pleased :-) Anyway, I think the next thing
I am saving for is a new sewing machine.. Be nice if I got one
for my birthday, Ive put it on my wish list. :-)
I am going to spoil myself today and make my VERY BEST
favorite food... If you know me you KNOW what it is.. :-)
FRIES N' GRAVY ! :-) I have been eating fries this way since
I was old enough to feed my self I think :-) Every time I eat
them I think of Howard McKinney was his name.. He and his
mother owned McKinneys Restaurant out on Ice Lake. Long
gone now, but that's where I first ate them, and its HIS
fault.. but I sure am glad :-) Now the best place to get fries
n' gravy up north is at the Happy Italians, they have THE
best. Although K & N in Ambridge used to have some killer
hot beef sandwiches with fries and gravy all over.. THEY
were great... I will have to ask my son if they are still there.
Seems I always end my posts writing about food.. Well for
me that is ONE of the BEST things.. I can only think of one
other thing that can compare and I'm not going there either.
:-) YOU figure it out.. :-) But I am going to go and peel some
taters and mix the gravy and just eat EVERY one I make :-)
You're invited to join me if you like.. :-) So till tomorrow,
this GORGEOUS WEEBLE says "G'Day, G'Day".... :-)
Y'all have a good one now, Y'hear? love ya and THANKS!!!
Always, Lois ****
"God Bless You", is my prayer today,
I'm honored to call you "friend".
I pray the Lord will keep you safe,
Until I write again....

Look like that pedal has been used a lot...
I need to get my sewing machine out, Pam and Becky has a few thing I need to sew up...Right now Mike computer on it and I need to see if I can get it going again...
It sure has been cold today, right now it is 27F...
The Sun was shining on Michael at Taco Bell this afternoon, he said it's summer. He was getting warm from the Sun...That how he thinks at times...but it got me wishing for it...
You got me hungry for gravy, but I want mine on buttermilk biscuit, I make it from jiffy mix now. Bob and I have two meals with it. It cost .79 a box now.
Bob has been wanting hamburger soup, when it cold outside,it's even better.
Sometimes for the handicap, they get special equipments for them to use, might check into something like that for the sewing machine.
God bless you Lois.
Keep warm my friend.

Hello Gorgeous,
Thanx for the pix of the sewing machine. I know that foot control is a problem - you mentioned that to me years ago. Have you looked on line to see what might be available? But probably best bet is a new machine. Something with an electronic speed control would at least run a lot cooler. Well, keep in on the wish list.
Fries and gravy - Yumm.. I think in some ways our tastes are similar (fat & calories - lolol).
Just to let you know, we'll be leaving Wed. for a couple weeks in FL. I'll let you know when I'm back.
Take care,
Bare Hugs,
Butty
