~Got To Try~
When I was in the HellHome, there was a little guy, named
Joe.. a real Dearie.. he and I were buddies... Joe was a DAK.
Diabetes.. He was a little small Italian man, and boy did he
have a temper when things didn't go his way and he told you
so.. He had 2 loving daughters that came every day; One of
them would be there. They would help him do things. Eat,
go thru the home, everything.. Joe would get SO MAD! He
would actually YELL at his girls telling them "LET ME TRY
TO DO IT AT LEAST!!! "... he was so VERY right.. I admired
TO DO IT AT LEAST!!! "... he was so VERY right.. I admired
Joe, he tried...and when he knew he couldn't THEN he
would ask his girls or yell for a nurse... Its good to help and
to OFFER to help.. but let us try first.. we need this to keep
going...we need to know we still CAN TRY...
I have a friend, a amputee. Shes married to a very loving man.
When she lost her leg, shes a single above knee, her hubby
more or less took over. He doesn't WANT her to do anything.
He follows her everywhere, he does everything for her.. She
said to me "Lois, sometimes I feel I really CANT do anything,
my hubby doesn't think I can either.".. I asked the famous
question... "Are you TRYING yourself at all?" Seems the more
time goes on the more he does.. hes not realizing that we
NEED to try first, let us... we need to know that we can.. If
that feeling gets to me that I CANT do anything, when I get
into a "snit" as I call them.. I get mad at myself... I can do
anything.. just in a different and my OWN way...
Help is great.. When I was in my manual... hey.. PUSH ME !!
save my arms ! Offer, don't just do it though... That's the
polite way to do it.. Let us try, like Joe said "Hell.. I aint
DEAD yet, I can do it".. This Dearie was in his wheel chair
all day, they had like cushion thing in front of him, cuz he
couldn't be trusted not to try to get out of that chair!.
He sat and steady dug and pulled at that thing in front of
him.. gave him something to do.. Like Helen.. ...
I don't know what she did before.. but she LOVED keys..
any she saw, no matter where they were or who they belonged
to, she would take them.. Finally the nurses got her her own
keys.. This lady would go room to room, and any door that had
a key hole, she would try her key. Kept her busy trying to find
the door that key opened.. None in that building :-) but she
didn't know.. and she TRIED though... every day, she would
do this.. I wonder what she would have done IF she had found
the door that key unlocked ? :-) Would she stop trying? We
have to keep that in us.. if its taken away.. then we stop and
then we die.... doing nothing- is that NOT dying?
Rainy day today, yesterday was beautiful I had my doors open
and the fresh air was great.. I am really worried about the
black kittie.. so much so I'm ready to go over there and ask
them where it is ... I watch for it and Ive not seen it hardly
at all.. Yesterday I didn't and so far today I havent.. I'm
hoping its a female and she has babies... I'm gonna have to
find out.. the saga of this black kittie needs to be solved !
I just hope its ok. I enjoyed watching that cat.. just like I
do mine... Who, by the way, are being totally MEAN to each
other .. acting more like brother and sister than 2 brothers,
the way theyre fighting.. every day... if one doesn't start it,
the other will !!.. kids... :-)
Well, I'm gonna go do some sewing or at least clean up the
mess I made yesterday :-) Plus I'm hungry, of course. I
have NO idea what I'm gonna have either.. I always find
something though.. Time to close and post this for today,
but.. cant with out my GORGEOUS WEEBLE "g'day,g'day"
Y'all have a good one now, Y'hear? love ya and Thanks...
Always, Lois ****
"God Bless You", is my prayer today,
I'm honored to call you "friend".
I pray the Lord will keep you safe,
Until I write again...

Hi, Honey,
Two comments in one day!! That has to be some sort of record!!
You are just one feisty lady. But you are right, you gotta TRY. There is a story running on the net about a young DAK. She makes the same point, people must let her try to do things HER way. The guy writing the story obviously knows a feisty DAK, like a certain well-known Weeble of my acquaintance!
Take care, Honey,
Luv Ya,
Raife
