Amputee life before and after...

~Perch Crutch~

I was telling a friend of mine that I have a couple of
lady friends that are single above knee amputees. He
makes stump boots and sent me this photo of a perch
crutch.. Would work for a HD (hip disarticulate) too..
I think its a great idea.. I sent it on to my 2 friends
to see if they might be interested in having one. I
am hoping sometime this summer both of them will
come for a visit.. Sure would be nice. I am hoping we
can plan it for when they have some of the magic
shows going on here, that should be starting in a few
months.. I think this invention of my friend is a good
thing for them that is, I think it would work great!
If I was still a single I would seriously consider using
one of those...If you know someone that would be
interested in one, let me know.. :-)

I used crutches sometimes when I was in the Hell home,
but I was like a bull in a China shop.. no one was safe if
I was close.. I bet I tripped my own self at least once
or twice if I ventured out of my room.. When I was in
there if I needed something I just hopped around on
my one leg, which I had to be very careful..since it was
very bad, it had little strength, so I didn't go far or
stay on it very long.. If I misjudged my time on it.. I
had such a small half room that I didn't have far to
go to find my chair or something to sit on, so I didn't
end up sitting on the floor..:-) and THAT was NOT
a good thing!

The boys came by last nite, Donnie and his brother John.
I forgot to take a photo, I wish I had! John is Donnies
younger brother by 2 years.. They look a lot alike..same
features, but size wise? John is a big man.. bigger than
Donnie... I had to almost lean all the way back to see
all of him when he first came in and said hi... I hadnt
seen John since they came to visit me over at the
little house, but Donnies brother David was with them
too.. Hes bigger than Donnie too !!! :-)

Donnie relayed the phone conversation he had with Laima,
my caseworker,on Monday when she was so worried about
me.. She called Donnie as hes on my list of contacts as my
son.. Donnie answered the phone, Laima said she was calling
about his 'mom'... and said she was trying to get her into a
hotel for the night. Donnie was confused.. he said, "your
bringing my mom here to a motel?" Laima explained the
heat situation and that 'his mom' was with out heat. She
told him everyone in Colon had none.. Donnie says "OHHHH!!!
THAT MOM!!!" :-) Sure had the boy confused for a few
minutes.. we laughed about that one.. Laima was looking out
for me and I sure appreciate it. Donnies other mom is in
Wisconsin ! :-)

I am going to get some flower seeds and some plants.
Over on the side of the front door is where the raised
bed is.. It will stay in the shade constantly so I think
something like Impatients would do very well there. I
looked out the window this morning and saw Carl out
there picking up the dead branches that came out of
the trees.. Hes the yard and maintence guy he said. I
wonder if he will fix the flower beds for me.. If not
Penny and I will.. I'm still anxiously waiting to hear
SOME news on the status of having a deck put out
back.. I need that done before I mess with the flower
beds cuz they would be covered. at least the one on
the right side by the gas meters out there. We will
have this place lookin good :-) We accept nothing less
than PERFECT !! :-)

Well, this PERFECT GORGEOUS WEEBLE needs to post
this and have some lunch.. I'm kinda hungry so I will
see what I can find out there in the kitchen, besides
Dutch layin in the sun !! :-) Post time, and "G'day,
G'day" time... :-)

Y'all have a good one now, Y'hear? love ya and thanks!!
Always, Lois ****

"God Bless You", is my prayer today,
I'm honored to call you "Friend".
I pray the Lord will keep you safe,
Until I write again..

I would want to be closer to the ground, just in case i would fall... A padded board with 4 wheel that moved all around would be good to set on and close to the ground to plants flower in the yard..If you had a way of getting up and down easy. And moving it with your arm or a wheel fixed up to move it all around...just thinking...
I lost a friend of 35 years with cancer, so many have cancer anymore.
God bless you Lois and keep you safe my friend.

    Hi Anonymous,
I dont think I could use the crutch unless I had a prosthetic, and I dont use them.. For a HD or a Single I think would be great..

    Hiya Mary,
I dont like being on the ground or lower than I am to move.. Ive sat on the lawn to work gardens etc..but I think if we can get raised beds it would be easier for me.. If I used boots I think I might DRAG !! :-) or certain parts of me would :-D
