~A Little About Me~

I think I mentioned I had a tree service..well my 2nd husband
and I did..I did all the paperwork and phone and appointment
set ups..etc..we were quite busy all the time and at one point
had 6 vehicles and 6 to 8 men working for us..The equipment
we had was staggering..We had 2 climbers..well 3 really but
depended how many jobs we had if the 3rd one would climb.
Not just anyone is a good tree climber..not with just a rope..Its
not easy and requires alot of arm strength..Some climbers use
spikes which are very bad for a tree if you are not going to take
it down...we had a boom or bucket truck that had a huge reach
on it..My ex usually ran it..The groundsmen were a very important
part of the crew..the clean up is what makes a good job..that the
customer only sees the tree gone or trimmed but all else looks
the same..That is a good job..lol...

We had a call to take a dead limb out of a tree..Willie went to
give an estimate on the job..it was accepted and since it was a
small easy job..Willie could do himself , he scheduled it for the
next morning..Willie was the boss but to keep him out of a tree,
well...the only way would be to tie him up..he loved it and would
do some smaller jobs just to keep his hands dirty..He did alot
of the extra work too..We sold firewood during the winter from
all the trees we took down..and it had to be split and delivered
and he did that..The crew didnt work if there was snow. Willie
was and is one of the best tree men in the business..still is
but down in Louisiana now..He moved down there after our
divorce and he got remarried to his first wife lol..ya..I found out
AFTER i left he had been making all these trips to Florida on
the pretense of seeing his brother..well he did..but he saw his
ex wife alot too and I believe slept on her couch a few nights
lolol sure I believe THAT too lol..But he is a good tree man I
would highly recommend him.. ANYWAY..

He went to the house, with the bucket truck to take off that dead
limb.. down below was the house..a few wires and a row of
mailboxes about 6 that were on the end of a road..one was the
man's that he was doing the tree job for.. Willie stabilizes the
boom truck and starts to move the arm up to the limb, reaches
it..pulls the cord on that Husky chain saw and starts to cut that
limb off..it wasnt huge..but kinda long..he stops..looks..down
and around to make sure when that limb falls it wont hit any
thing :-) lol.. dont get ahead of me now...lol...

Willie cuts the limb..down it goes..and SMACK!!! hits one of the
mailboxes down below just denting the daylights out of it... he
mumbles and gets all angry..and lowers the bucket to the ground.
He asks the man if he can use his phone to call me and I would
go and get him a new mailbox at the Fleet Farm just down the
road from the mans house and Willie would replace the mail box.
He phones..tells me to go and get this man a mail box..I said ok
and left to go shopping..I got to the store..and go to look at the
mailboxes and say "CRAP!!!..there are a dozen different kind!!!"
Willie wasnt specific as to what kind to get.. So I'm there looking
at one box to the other and this man is looking at them too..I
glanced at him and smiled..and told him that I had to pick out a
mailbox and had NO idea what to get..that my husband just called
and he smashed a mail box of a customer and he didnt specify
what kind I should get..and NOW I said I was gonna have to go
and call him to find out what kind..I was kinda pouty by then..

The man taps my arm says " I kinda like that one there, its my
mailbox your hubby smashed and I thought I would come pick
out what kind I wanted, so I figured that was you when I saw you
start looking--- that one will do nicely" lolol..I laughed..said "well
why didnt he just give you the money and I wouldnt have had to
drive all the way across town to come here and buy one? He
says "I think he wants lunch too, so you maybe better stop and
bring him something or he will send you back for that " lol..I
smiled and took the mailbox up to the register and paid and
gave the guy the mailbox..lol ..what luck though of all 6 of the
mailboxes Willie managed to take out the customers ONLY
now is that a good tree man or what? :-D lol.. I did pick up
lunch and took that to him ..my luck when the man gave him
the mail box and said he saw me there he would wait till I got
all the way home and call and say "HEY...BRING me some
lunch!! " lol so I saved myself a trip lol..I was hungry anyway..

Well speaking of hungry I am..Lunch was sausage and cabbage
and potatoes..and YESSSSSSS CARROTS..sheesh I have
night mares about those stinkin things ...I do..I bet they grow their
own over there is why they have them 4 times a week..its
peas n carrots or beans n carrots..or STEW n carrots.. I am
so sick of looking at those orange thingies..lol.. I dont like to
EAT them.. now I will admit they do give a good flavor to stuff
IF you cant SEE them.. I have cut them up very very tiny so
that when they cook they disintegrate into whatever..but to see
them all orangy no no..YOU can have mine ok? lol..I'm not
real hungry so maybe just some of Mrs. Grass's extra noodle
chicken soup..its really good those real skinny noodles..good
stuff.. so off I roll into the sunset lol..Nitey Nite..

Y'all have a good one now Y'hear? Luv Ya!! & Thanks :-)

ALways, Lois ****

May God Bless you today,
I'm so honored to call you friend,
I pray the Lord will keep you safe,
Until I write again...

In the NY Metropolitan area one of the 4 year colleges offers tree service & Mortuary Science as majors. One of our family friends took the tree service course. When we bought our house on Long Island I had to cut down about 12 saplings which was easy. My current house has a patio in back and a 10 x 12 foot or 3x4 metter front yard. No trees.

Good Morning Momar.. I wouldnt imagine there would be alot of trees by you..They are such an asset to property but a liability if you dont care for them properly.. My favorite trees are White Birch and Weeping Willow... I used to call them Whipping Willows lol...

HOpe you have a good day today :-)
    ALways, Lois..

That's just about hte most hazardous occupation. I like the same brand of chain saw- durable and easy to maintain, and the mufflers are somehow less in the way so that you can't burn yourself so easily.

    Thasnks for the good story.

Morning Gray!! thank you! :-) I'm glad you like my stories..so far you seem to have enjoyed every one of them and I appreciate you letting me know that you do..Thats one of many lol...

We tried out alot of different saws, we found that the Husky was the best as far as steady use all day and plus they have to be cleaned and maintained daily. Theyre the best we found. DId you know Husquavarna also makes sewing machines? they are top of the line you know too..

But tree work is dangerous..how I lost my eye...taking out that stump...
Hope you have a good day.. :-)

    Dear Lois,
College offering tree service AND mortuary scienc?? Kinda a warped sense of humour, isn't it? Loved the story, though.
You will have to try mashing those lovely little carrots up with your fork and mixing them in with the mashed potatoes, then you won't notice them!! And you'll have nice, orange coloured potatoes, too!!! lolol ;o)
Take care, hon, lots of love and hugs from
