~I Don't Have to Work~

I sat this morning at 5:30, pitch dark out, at my table in the kitchen,
I watched as the cars went up and down the streets outside. They all
seemed in such a hurry, whether its to work or from it..its a rush..
I saw someone even on a bicycle it had a headlight and flashing discs
on it..That time of the morning someone was getting off work
or going to it.. The wind was blowing, I could see the big bush
outside the kitchen windows was moving back and forth.. The
road was wet from the rain and it seemed so dark and cold..
I watched as the cars went back and forth and I will be honest,
I sat there and said "Thank you Lord, I don't have to go out in
this"... I don't have to go to work everyday like Ive done most
of my life and I honestly do NOT miss it..But I sure have done my
share of the morning and evening rush, in all kinds of weather.
I didnt mind working, I liked the challenge plus I knew what I did
know how to do that I was good at it..and I was proud that I was.
I earned every dime I made, and I enjoyed every job I had, but
I sure dont miss it, but I know the feeling.. been there, done that.
Im not real keen on the reason I got out of going to work anymore,
but well it could have been worse, so as long as I can still live and
talk..well.. thats the main thing and I DONT miss going to work
at all... :-)

I always was a good company person..well, they gave me money
and the better I did the more I got..so just logic it didn't take me
long to figure that out..so I made good money, and I earned every
dime.. I think of the jobs Ive had, so diverse, so many, I was telling
Chris the other night.. Almost every job I had I dealt with people.
Nursing, Marketing, Sewing, I even once when I was living in Tampa
tried to be a waitress..That was hilarious.. I HAVE to admit.THAT
really was NOT my calling in life.. I was awful.. I got my tables mixed
up, gave people the wrong food, I bumped into stuff making me
spill..luckily not on anyone.. I was an awful waitress...but I did like
the contact with people...When I ran the motels in Houston, it was
constant contact and inter acting with people, but I really enjoyed it.
When I was in the hellhome, I enjoyed all the dearies that were there.
I never tired of listening to their stories or getting to know them and
about their lives.. I started sewing again when I was in there I made
baby quilts and lap quilts.. The photo there is of 2 of my quilts I made.
I would go into the activities room where they had a big table and I
would use that to turn them and pull them out... You can see me sitting
on the side.. I still had my left leg then... but look at my Skinny arm.. I
had forgotten about these photos and I was glad I found them.. I made
so many of them I lost count and I made some good spending money.
Which I didn't spend even..although I did go more then, I could still
help my self with one leg..I could still reach stuff..The last store I was
in was GoodWill.. I like that store..In fact Penny and I talked about
going there at the end of the month when everything is half price,
which I may do... I love 2nd hand stores... But My quilts as you see
were very pretty and my own designs.. I think the hardest part was
picking out the material...that took me forever..well they had to match.
Im the same way with my clothes, they have to match...

Heidi was due to come today and I phoned her about 3 or so asking
where she was.. I guess she has a client in dire straits..and needs
extra attention.. She apologized for not coming and not phoning to
tell me.. She said she would be here about noon tomorrow.. I hope
so she said she has a lot of goodies for me.. Im anxious to see
what she brings.. I love getting gifties...Theresa came today tho...
she is such a sweetie.. such a gentle kind soul.. shes so soft spoken
and easy going.. she laughs at me and how I am.. she loves my
stories..and KNOWS how I am and can just about guess the out
come of some before I even tell her...shes so very nice.. I promised
I would teach her to crochet and to knit.. Penny is wonderful at
crochet..she has made me some beautiful doilies.. Im hoping Penny
will knit some baby booties for me for Kelli..well not her but the baby.
I don't think they would fit her she has big feet for as small as she is.
She is a lot like her mother that we can see... and just as pretty...

Well I was totally confused today as to what day it was since Heidi
didn't show up and I was expecting Theresa at noon..I felt I was on
the wrong day totally.. I hate when I do that... But I know its food
time.. I didn't eat lunch but I did have a small breakfast..of pancakes
and sausage..those little frozen breakfasts are so good and take
only 2 minutes to nuke and you cant tell you did not make them..I
like them and for a dollar you cant beat that.. 3 pancakes and 2
link sausage cost more than that in a restaurant..plus its faster..
I have a few of them in my freezer along with some sizzler steakies
and that's gonna be my dinner..I got up at 5 and I am SO ready to
get this GORGEOUS WEEBLE out of this chair.. and on to some
thing softer... Food, TV..Sleep..and "nitey nite"...

Y'all have a good one now, Y'hear? love ya..and THANKS... :-)
Always, Lois ****

God Bless you, is my prayer today,
I'm so honored to call you "friend";
I pray the Lord will keep you safe,
Until I write again.....

I was working today with a man who goes to the gym as part of his rehab. When we got home I tried to use his microwave & it was sparking. Now Friday, I will be with a man who lives in a really nice nabe.

The quilts are beautiful Lois. As you know I am a quilter too and I have 4 on the go at the moment. I thought that when I retired (a month ago) that I would have time to sew, learn to play the piano (again) do some Family History stuff but no I am busier now that I was when I was at work. We have a big fight on our hands here in the village when I live. A development company want to build a new settlement of 7500 houses in the middle of our countryside. There is an Inquiry at our local village centre which will last 6 weeks - this is week 2 - and I and many friends are in there every listening to all the arguments. My husband is speaking next week - against!
We have an Indian summer here - cold at night but beautiful, warm and sunny in the day.
Get sewing again my friend - we can exchange photos of quilts that we are making.

    Hi, Honey,
What beautiful quilts. I've tried a bit of sewing myself and I can appreciate the skill needed. I once made a "Snoopy" - had to make my own pattern, as none are available, for copyright reasons. Was fun!!
Poor Julie - what a ghastly business. To swamp a village like that is absurd. Trouble is, our politicians occupy some other Planet - certainly not Earth!! And they all seem to hate the countryside and are doing their level best to destroy it. Thank God they haven't had a go at Exmoor - YET!!
    Take care, Honey. L.O.L. & G.B.H. from
