Amputee life before and after...

~Before Then?~

I sit here by my desk and just look and watch what is going on
outside..This street on both sides of me is so busy..steady
traffic..from cars to trucks to buses.. I notice when a car pulls
up to the stop sign out here and has to wait..I look at the people
inside..wonder what they do, where they are going..what kind
of life they have.. I notice I bet every other car if its not the driver,
someone in the car is talking on a cell phone.. I wonder what
people did before them?

I can remember back to when I first remember using a phone..It
was a wall phone..and was in the hallway as you came into the
house.. It was black and very heavy..and not really a long cord on
it. At first we had a party line..where 4 or so houses all have the
same line and you had to share..when you picked up the receiver
and heard someone else talking..you were polite and hung up..
which I NEVER listened.. well.. ok .. a few times I did..

I would pick up the phone and if no one was on the line..I would
listen for the operator as she said "Number please"... and I would
give her the number of who I wanted to call.. the number I can
think of that I called was 1348 J... whos I do not remember, but
I do remember that..maybe was ours! Lilly Tomlin used to a
skit on TV where she played a old timey phone operator..and she
would plug in the cord and say " One Ringy Dingy, Two Ringy Dingy"
She was so funny.. We have come a long way..

I don't have a cell phone..but I really don't need one..I never go any
where, Penny has one and it rings constantly when she is here. I
don't really like it..but oh well.. If she was working in a factory I am
sure they wouldn't like their employee spending time talking when
they should be doing their job..Its the same with driving down the
street..It has been known to cause accidents..Now with these new
ones that take photos too..That could be bad, but good too.. I looked
at some and well I know I like to learn new stuff, but I honestly don't
think I need a cell phone..if I can get one put in my rooms here . I
try to remember now to take my cordless with me when I leave my
desk, but during the day is when it charges as I take it into my bed
room with me at nite.. One of these days. I will be all wired..

Tomorrow is Dr. I dread it. I go for one thing and end up with a ton
of other crap they find .. I don't like that but..well, I have to get rid of
this what ever it is.. besides looking awful it really doesn't feel the
greatest and it is time since I cant seem to do what ever I need to
to get rid of it.. So.. this is the next logical step.. I know I wont sleep
tonite at all...but then I never do if I have to go out the next day.. I
worry too much about what the Dr will tell me.. AND I have to have
blood drawn tomorrow which is NOT a fun thing.. doesn't hurt when
they poke my thumb..but it always bruises so badly afterwards and
that's what hurts..

Well enough of whining about drs.. I think I will work on baby afghan
and take my mind of tomorrow.. I might need some of my great
saffron bread..always makes me feel better ..Time for that and my
GORGEOUS WEEBLE words.."Nitey Nite" :-)

Y'all have a good one now, Y'hear? luv ya.. and THANKS :-)
ALways, Lois ****

God Bless you, is my prayer today,
I'm so honored to call you "friend";
I pray the Lord will keep you safe,
Until I write again.....

    Hi, Honey,
Over here, if you are caught driving AND talking on a cellphone, you can be fined quite heavily and get points on your licence - too many points and they stop you driving for a while. We have so many crashes when folks have been distracted by their cellphones. You are OK if you use a hands free set up.
Good luck to-morrow, Hon. I shall be thinking of you and saying a little prayer.
    Take care, Honey,
    L.O.L. & G.B.H. from
    Raife

Re: your hand. It all depends on the circulation. You look like you could be a candidate for a wound care center. You would visit a hyperbaric chamber once a week. Re: cell phones: I always get calls when you least expect them. Where are you people will ask.
I am on the expressway in a cab. or I am at a plumbing supply store. Did you know they sell the English brand of toilets in NYC (Crapper) he was the man who invented the toilet.
