~Joys of Winter~

It was 35 degrees outside this morning when I got up at
5:30. And it WAS cold in here. I still havent turned the
furnace on and I really should.. The boys little feet are so
cold.. Dutch tapped my face this morning and wow.. I
mean they were freezing.. I didn't turn the furnace on, I
waited till the sun started to shine, now, since they cut my
trees I get the morning sun and I get late afternoon on
the other side of the house.. It did warm up... If the temp
drops tonite I may have to turn it on just to take the damp
chill out.. I just dread the gas bill.. It was outrageous last
year and now, well the prices are even higher so I know my
bill will be more.. Joys of living in the north :-)

Only bad thing about winter and the cold are the fires.. I
watched 2 fire trucks and a ambulance rush down the
street this morning and that sends chills down my spine.
My first thoughts is that no one got hurt. I was in a fire,
a long time ago and I know the devastation and the feeling
of loss.. I lost every single thing I owned when my house
burnt down. We had thought Mark started it while I was
asleep as he was always fascinated by my lighter. We
found it in the kitchen on the floor.. The fire started in
the cupboard tho, the house was so old, and the wiring was
bad.. My dishes sometimes were even hot when I got them
out of it.. I woke up to flames one morning before I told
the landlord about it..

Luckily I got Mark and I out.. wasn't easy but I did.. Richard
was with his dad and Mark refused to go. I had gotten a
phone call and had to get up to answer it.. I laid back down on
the couch to wait for Mark to get up to make breakfast.. I
fell back to sleep to be slapped awake by Mark screaming
"Mommy! Mommy! Fire!" I opened my eyes and when I looked
at the kitchen it was like looking into an inferno.. I grabbed
Mark and ran to the door.. First try it wouldn't open.. I pulled
and tugged at a dead bolt I had to have put on since my ex
kept breaking in... in a fire, the heat made it expand and I
had a hell of a time twisting that knob.. I got it open and felt
the rush of AIR... I remember going across the street to
the neighbors and I don't remember anything after that for
weeks.. Shock I guess... I lost every single thing we had,
I had 2 little boys, lost my home, everything, it was an awful
time.. 3 weeks after the fire I had to have major surgery...
was a bad bad time.. not to mention I even totaled out my
car.!.. Its like nothing was right and every single thing was
wrong.. horrible time and all contributing factors to my
leaving... Fires bring back a lot of memories.. and sadly not
good ones at all....

I forgot to have Penny get a new filter for the furnace and
I hate to turn mine on till I do.. Plus I didn't ask her to make
sure nothing was up against it.. That lady moved all the stuff
down there away from the walls to paint.. which, the smell is
still there.. has gotten even worse I think..but that could be
cuz of the 4 days of rain we had too.. If I have to I will
call and ask Penny cuz she goes down there every time shes
here to empty the de humidifier down there. Its full every
time too... I know once I turn that furnace on with that
smell down there will blow it up here.. and I already smell
it through the register vents in the baseboards... Theres
so much on my to do list for this house its pathetic..and
the bad thing is the list doesn't get smaller but bigger!!
The boy did write me in his book in INK he said.. I made
sure yesterday cuz Dawn came by while she was in town.
So I asked her to remind him.. which I know she will...

Well I've got a pork roast cooking out there in my crock
pot I wish you could smell it much less taste it.. The smell
is wonderful... I put it on last night before I went to watch
TV.. they had pork roast and steaks for dollar nineteen a
pound which is very good... Penny picked out a nice one for
me and my mouth is watering ready to go and eat some of
it :-) That means its time for my GORGEOUS WEEBLE
"Nitey Nite" :-)

Y'all have a good one now, Y'hear? love ya, and THANKS!
Always, Lois ****

"God Bless You", is my prayer today,
I'm so honored to call you "friend".
I pray the Lord will keep you safe,
Until I write again..

    Hi, Honey,
Hope the pork roast turned out OK. What did you have with it? Nice little carrots!!?? Apple is always good with pork, or apricots. Potatoes, stick beans, peas, cabbage - all or any of those.
Glad you got those new arms for your chair. Those rests can't have been helping YOUR arms at all. Trouble is, they don't make them out of genuine leather, which is a much more friendly material to our skins.
    Take care, Honey.
    Luv Ya,
    Raife

    Hello Lois
I fixed a large roast beef today, we are going to get 8 meals out of it.
I wanted potatoes and carrots with it, but no time for that...
I make wonderful sandwich for the first meal, all the rest of the roast does have broth with it...
WOW I can hardly keep my eyes open, so it's bed time.
    God bless you Lois.
    Mary

In july, I had a flood. Even a severe flood can do a lot of damage. The cathedrals from medieval france are still standing because they control water damage. Several years ago St. John the divine cathedral in nyc had a major fire. There were few people to repair it so they started an apprentice program.
