~Great Start Today~
Today started out really good.. I got up, got my coffee
and headed back to my desk to read my mail, looked at
my monitor, my glasses fell off and the stem had broken!
So, without my glasses I cant read doodly squat ! So I
spent the next half hour looking for a spare pair that I
KNEW I had, but.. WHERE?? I found them and got my
little repair kit, and decided it probly would be better
to work on them out in the kitchen... When I looked at
my glasses I realized that I was going to have to replace
the stem, the part that goes over your ear, to keep them
on.. NOW, I am blind in one eye.. so you KNOW this is
gonna be great fun.. I was thrilled at the thought of giving
myself a raging headache from doing this, but I had to if
I wanted to read anything.
I sat out at the kitchen table, got the little screwdriver
and proceeded to take that TINY TINY little screw out
and you KNOW what happened then yes? Well of course!
I DROPPED IT !! :-( I bet I spent the NEXT half hour
looking for that stinkin little screw.. and you KNOW it was
the ONLY one I had ! I need a new repair kit, is what I
need.. My spare glasses are not powerful for me to read
so I cant really use them the strain gives me a massive
headache.. I should just get a better pair.. not just the
dollar mags from the drug store, but they work.. I tried
bi-focals, and had prescription glasses, the bi's drove
me nuts my head kept going up and down like I was one
of those bobber dolls you see in a back car window.. I
hated them.. These Ben Franklin mags work great and
that's what I have used for quite a few years now.. I
have noticed that the strength is going up on them tho,
but then it depends on the glasses.. Some are better
than others...Well anyway, Dutch helped and we got the
stem changed and all put back together, but I AM going
to get another spare pair AND a few new screws too!
Took forever finding that little thing.. :-)
Rebecca came today and brought me some new pillows for my
bed.. Mine were so old and just not good at all. These new ones
will be so nice to use.. I usually put 2 or 3 under my head and
I put another one along each side of me and then I put another
one under my stumps.. I make like a nest of pillows :-) but its
the only way I can lay comfy.. When I had my heart bypass,
9 years ago, in May, afterwards they would put pillows
up along side and under my arms.. then my arms were level
with my chest and not down by my sides. It made me a lot
more comfy, and took the pressure off the ribs where they
were split.. I still do that.. and Ive told a few about doing that.
Bill, Donnies dad, had a heart bypass and they didn't tell him
that and after I told him he tried it and was pleasantly very
surprised at how much stress it took off his chest and how
much more comfy he was when he slept.. After a heart by
pass you can only lay on your back, not on your sides at all..
I am still amazed to see those clamps they used on me.. I
saw my chest xrays and those sardine key looking things
I was shocked.. but there are 4 in my chest.. I still have
the Xray somewhere.. Anyway I am most grateful to have
new pillows.. Now, I get the satin comforter I want and I
will sleep like a baby :-)
Penny called in sick. Well no, she didn't, her sister Kathy
phoned me with a message from her. Apparently she cant
make long distance calls from that house. Because of the
residents. So many are not reliable and probly would end
up calling Siberia or something... But Kathy said she is very
sick with the flu again.. I dunno, but this makes ME worry,
She was just here Monday, I wonder was she spreading
that crap and will I get it.. That's ALL I would need again.
Once was enough.. I hope she gets better soon.. Its really
hard when she misses, but well.. that's the joys of being
dependent on others to do things I cant. being so short
sucks :-)
So that's the saga of todays living in GORGEOUS WEEBLE
Land.. Its a never ending drama don't ya just love it? I do..
SOMETIMES... Time for lunch and to wait for the lunch
girl.. I need to find out her name, she looks just like my
Kelli and is just as sweet.. She will go out and check my
mail for me, Ive gotten some great birthday cards already
and I eagerly wait for the mail every day.. I love mail whether
its email or snail mail ... hint hint hint... :-) Time to post and
of course put my "G'day G'day from this SHORT GORGEOUS
WEEBLE :-)
WEEBLE :-)
Y'all have a good one now Y'hear? love ya and thanks! :-)

Sound like you had a busy day with your glasses Lois...
I hate to hear that Penny has the flu again...I will pray you don't get it again.
I'm feeling better too, got a lot shopping done for Becky...hoping it will last a week for her...Thursday the high will be 20F...planning to stay home all day...unless I change my mind and go clean a few hours for a lady that her caregiver has been sick and not able to help her.
People need a back up when there staff is sick and not able to come.
I know it hard to fine people that will fill in for other like that...
They say it going to be around 7 F tonight...and a little snow.
A little snow sound good to me...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LOIS, it's getting closer my friend...
God bless you.

Hi, Honey,
I have just the same problem with clock bits!! I get over it by keeping my hands well forward of me, in the middle of the table, though that would not be easy without glasses. Same applies with my Warfarin. I live in fear and trepidation lest I drop one on the floor and Holly (Ines's Labrador pup) gets it. That would be a major veterinary emergency!!
They didn't tell me about the two pillow trick when I had my heart by-pass, either. I did manage to be fairly comfortable, though, as far as I can remember - it must be about 15 years ago, now, so they did a good job!!
Take care, Honey,
Luv Ya,
Raife
