~Neighbors, Peggy & John~ :-)

Peggy
Joyce dropping by reminds me of my neighbor when
I lived in Elkhart, her name was Peggy, married to
John, between them they had 6 kids.. 3 of Peggy's
2 boys and a girl..John had 2 boys, and Peggy and
John had 1 boy. Wild kids too.. Was daily drama.
Summers were hard because the kids were home
alone as they both worked. 6 kids, 4 boys all under
the age of 12, and James, the youngest about 7 I
think... I felt sorry for the only girl, she had her
hands full...The oldest, Tommy was sort of in charge.
He was about 16. A wild kid too, but he watched out
for the younger ones. But Peggy and John were good
friends :-)
John, Me, Peggy and Willie

Gramma lived with them, Peggys mother. But she
was bed bound and could NOT watch those boys. I
almost kept my blinds shut on that side of my kitchen
so I didn't have to watch what they were getting into.
Sometimes if I saw them doing something that could
REALLY endanger themselves I would yell at them that
I was telling their mother and to "STOP IT". Like when
I saw James running around up on the flat roof of their
house.. I saw him trip but couldn't see where he landed,
next thing I saw was the 2 older ones of Johns, Eddie
and John leading a crying James into the house... He
had fallen off the other side of the house and broken
his arm... We finally put up a fence :-)
Peggy and I were great friends though and just about
every day during the summer, usually in the evening,
she and I would walk around and talk about our flowers.
She had a green thumb and lots of different things
planted all over her yard. We walked all over, my cat
Fuzz and my dog Alex at the time would follow us. In
fact Peggy was the one who more or less made me get
my ears pierced.. promising it wouldnt hurt a bit.. Ya,
right.. They did mine the old way where they pushed
the earring through.. now they use a gun and zap! its
done.. My left ear bled for an hour I bet.. No, probly
not that long, but seemed like it.. :-)
When it was holiday time, Peggy cooked up a storm
and ALWAYS shared. I still use her cut out cookie
recipe for my Christmas Cookies.. They are the best
Ive ever had. She would tell me ahead of time what
she was bringing over, one thanksgiving she brought
the whole dinner over she just cooked double.. I
think that was the year I put my eye out.. well lost
the sight in it...
The photos of the house are before and after.. That
house is all one floor and in the back that you cant see,
when you go down the driveway is a nice screened in
porch with a swing. or used to be when I lived there.
Would be very accessible for a wheel chair now.. I loved
it there...But I had NO choice but to hurry and go.. so
Life could go on ...

Where its going now is out to the kitchen to have one of
those fresh tomatoes. Donnie and John came by last nite
and brought some zuchinni.. John is staying with him for
a few days. They didn't stay a long time as Donnie has
been working over time ..his birthday is the 13th NOT
the 10.. John has a nice truck.. I gave Donnie a photo of
a corner picket fence I would like to have, so I told him
to keep ALL his scrap wood.. doesn't take much to make
it..

Next thing I'm making is lunch, COA lunch was awful
yesterday, I'm glad I had leftover brats and cabbage.
Even Vinnie said mine smelled better than COA's looked.
I agreed :-) LUNCH ! "I shall be back!" This GORGEOUS
WEEBLE is warning ya ! :-) ahhh admit you will be glad :-)

Y'all have a good one now, Y'hear? luv ya and thanks !
Always, Lois ****

"God Bless You" is my prayer today,
I'm honored to call you Friend.
I pray the Lord will keep you safe,
Until I write again...
