~Drama Day~ but I made it ! :-)

Every day I have drama, today was NO exception, in
fact was not a good day at all !! Was very worrisome .
Why? Well.. I got up at 5, puttered around till it was
about 8:30, I'm sitting here at my desk, writing an
email.. when the screen goes black.. First instinct I
look to the cable box, is it blinking, NO.. I tap on my
light here, it did NOT come on.. Notice the time I
am posting this? I'm kinda late from my usual NOON
by about 4 hours? Guessed yet? NO ELECTRICTY!!!
Look at the first photo. We still had power when I took
that, can you tell how in the picture? You can see the
reflection of the kitchen light in it.. up top.. :-) I miss
nothing when it comes to photos...But right after I
took these, down loaded them into my computer is when
the power went out. Which I wasn't really worried..
Its never been off for longer than an hour or so before.
Today was different.. try 7 hours with no heat and it
was about 42 degrees out... By the time it came back
on I was up to 3 sweaters, my mink cape and 2 blankets.
It was cold in here.. I have 5 windows including the
door in this living room AND kitchen.. It cooled down
really fast... I wasn't worried about freezing to death
or going hungry or anything.. I had another concern...
Was a very heavy wet snow...
I had NO WAY to contact anyone.. Before I lost power
I did call Donnie to ask him to call me back. But I have
to say, I didn't like this feeling, and I remember this
same thing when I lost power at the little house, and
I said I was going to do something about it.. Well I just
let it slide and here I was again in this.. What if I had
fallen in that 7 hours. . . what if with me not being able
to answer the phone, no one checked on me? thinking
I had gone somewhere warm? I mean, a dozen things
went through my head... I AM GETTING A CELL...
One of those that I pay for the time.. Not a program
thing that costs so much a month, I don't go anywhere
to need a cell other than for an emergency.. Id get
a set of walkie talkies but no one I know lives in
range.. so that only leaves a cell...
Anyway my electric came back on at 3:45, I booted
up this computer but before I could do anything my
phone rang.. First was Rebecca.. "LOIS! ARE YOU OK?"
2nd was my APS caseworker, Laima, same thing.. but
she added.. "I just got off the phone with your son,
he said that he is leaving to bring you his generator
and to check on you, I suggest you call him right away,
COA called me to make sure I checked on you". Is
this nice or what? They made sure they checked on
me, made me feel really good.. I'm most grateful..

I called the boy right away, as he was loading his
generator up and saw the phone was from me, told
John, his brother is here, to wait.. I hear him click
on the phone he actually YELLS.. "GRAN!!!!.. WHAT
THE HELL IS GOING ON?? ARE YOU OK?".. I told
him the whole thing.. He was glad he didn't have to
load up that generator.. But the boy was worried. I
told him ALL is ok.. The furnace is just going like
crazy, I'm using the phone and my computer did
survive.. ALL is WELL...

I talked to Chris when she brought my lunch, she was
worried about not only me but lots of her clients.. I
told her, we have had snow butt deep to a giraffe
all winter and not lost power.. this time we do.. and not
just us.. but Three Rivers, Burr Oak, and all around..
There was a lot of us.. Chris told me she heard that
it wouldn't be back on till TOMORROW by Noon,
MAYBE.. I got worried then.. a little :-) I have tons
of blankets and so I eat cold food.. I worried more
about the boys, I didn't want them to catch cold
walking on this cold floor.. They wont let me hold
them so I fixed pillows on the couch to make like
cubby holes for them to keep their own heat by
them.. They were nervous.. for some reason the
smoke alarm kept beeping every 5 minutes which
drove me nuts.. and is STILL driving me nuts.. I
cant reach it.. :-( I'm glad Chris was wrong..

Well that's the drama for today, it has all ended
just fine.. Lets just hope the power stays on.. At
least till I get a cell phone :-).. I'm hungry and I
want a nice hot cuppa tea.. Next to a warm squeezy
hug that will warm me up :-) The GORGEOUS
WEEBLE has made it through another day, what a
way to start off the week !! Oh well , as long as I
can still write my "G'day, G'day" :-) Its ALL GOOD!

Y'all have a good one now, Y'hear? love ya and Thanks!
Always, Lois ****

"God Bless You" is my prayer today,
I'm honored to call you "Friend"
I pray the Lord will keep you safe,
Until I write again...

    Hi, Honey,
You know what? It was the wrong kind of snow!! We get a lot of that here - it stops the railways running. The excuse is always that it's the wrong kind of snow.
A pay-as-you-go cellphone is a good idea. That's what we have. Ours doesn't take photos or play "God Save the Queen", or any of that clever stuff, but its there for emergencies.
    Take care, Honey, keep warm.
    Luv Ya,
    Raife

The last time I had no electricity other than the fire, was a blackout in June, 2003. Now I keep a battery radio, and a flashlight. I recently bout an LED flashlight. It uses 3-AAA batteries. Always have a regular phone besides a cordless. A cordless needs electricity.
