~The Deck~

Donnie & John
The deck is getting done! I'm so glad. I
cant wait to get out there . Donnie and his
brother John worked all day yesterday and
despite the heat got a lot done. Its looking
so good.

They were so hot, it was miserable yesterday.
They had to stop quite often just to cool down.
I was getting worried they might get heat
stroke.
The deck will have a railing too, Donnie was
not going to put one on, and just a bumper
strip around the edge, but no, knowing me
that strip wouldn't stop this chair from
going over the edge if for some reason I got
to close to the edge. The railing would make
it more noticeable and I wouldn't go too close.
But being blind in one eye I have no depth
perception and I could easily fall off.
Its a hot weekend but nice, ive not been
sleeping too good, ive been getting up too
early. 4 am is early. For me, Donnie gets
up that time every day to go to work, he
has about an hour drive, plus he works in
Indiana and there is a 1 hour time difference.
I'm a tad hungry and need some lunch. I have
left over potato salad it is so good. The guys
sure liked it... So, this GORGEOUS WEEBLE
is gonna post this for today. Keep well and
God bless...

~Busy Day~

Busy day today, so this is gonna be short.
Plus I'm tired.. I woke up to loud thunder
and pouring rain. The lightening was awful.
Lit up the whole inside. The boys are what
really woke me up, whining and walking all
over top of me..
Penny is making spaghetti sauce and we are
making potato salad. As far as I know the
boy will be here tomorrow and I will have
to feed the kid. :-) Were having rotini
pasta.

The rain and wind almost knocked down my
sunflowers.. theyre ok.. Penny went out and
took a photo of the outside facing the back
door to get a better idea of how it looks.. I
wrote to Joe and sent the photo and nicely
mentioned how wonderful a sliding glass door
would be in stead of the door and window !
I hope he agrees.,.

Time to mix the salad, gotta go, plus this
GORGEOUS WEEBLE is hungry,, keep
well, happy weekend and God Bless.

~Midnight Visitors~

At 3am I was up and like always I was
looking out the door. I was so glad to see
the black kittie, that is injured, and I think
the one that looks so much like Dutch is
her baby. They are always together. The
baby cant be over a year old. Shes very tiny
and is identical to Dutch. They were hungry.
They are both very afraid of me, I only had the
porch light to take photos by and I tried
the flash, but it reflected in the glass. So
I only could hold the camera up and hope
I got them. When they see me the baby
runs, the black one will run if I open the
door. I sure would like to get to be a
friend to them. That baby is so cute.
the boy
the girl
I saw hummer and got that good photo
of him this morning, he left then the
female came by. They are so fast its
hard to get an unblurry photo!! But I
did..
Fuzz came by for breakfast as usual,
and I got that cute photo of him showing
his teeth :-)
When he left across the yard, I was
watching him and he stopped by the bird
bath and I quick grabbed my camera cuz
it looked like he was IN it.. I showed the
picture to Penny, she said "HOW did he
get up in the birdbath?!" I then pointed
out his tail .. :-) I thought it was a good
photo :-)

Penny is frying up some green tomatoes for
lunch and has made a batch of pineapple
cookies.. It smells great in here, so....
Needless to say, this GORGEOUS WEEBLE
is hungry :-) Stay cool and God Bless..

~Family~

I found out I have a lot of family on my
dads side. The Woodworth family. There
is a website and a yahoo group that of
course I belong to.. Ive found I have
cousins in Kalamazoo, Battle Creek and
Grand Rapids. Ive talked to my cousin
Mary, shes very nice, and not far, so
I'm hoping she might come and visit me.
Id sure like that. She has a sister Gayle,
like I did.
Milk House
Our cousin Lowell that's in charge of the
yahoo group, lives in FL, came up here to
Grand Rapids on his way up to the Soo, he
and his wife stopped at the Woodworth farm
I wrote and told him about. My cousin Earl
(Hap) Woodworth lived there. I found a
newspaper clipping that told of a celebration
there in 1982 for the 100 year birthday of
the farm. It was purchased in 1892 by Irving,
Haps dad. The farm is in Grand Rapids, it used
to be a dairy .
15 room farmhouse
I sure would love to go and see this farm. The
15 room farmhouse is still there and the milk
barn and the big barn. There is 240 acres there.
Sadly it was sold to the Grand Rapids Gravel
Company and is rented to someone. The renter
was very nice to show Lowell, Kathy and 2 of
our other cousins, Mary and Gayle around. The
photos are Lowells. So amazing to see the road
sign of my familys name. If I could get a ride, I
surely would go. :-)
Barn
I talked to my boy last night and he promises to
come over the weekend to finish my deck.. I cant
wait. I promised him I would make some potato
salad for him, one of his favorites too. I have to
admit my potato salad is the best of any I have
ever eaten.. :-)
Almost lunch time and I'm still waiting for Rebecca
to come by.. The ants were all over hummers feeder
and he sure was mad. You can see the ant legs even.
Its sugar water in there so its sticky :-) I'm gonna
post this cuz this GORGEOUS WEEBLE is hungry,
stay cool, keep well and God Bless...

~Foggy In The Morning~

Its been foggy in the mornings the past
couple days. We still have the heat tho.
I keep hoping it wi
ll slack off so Donnie
can come up and work on the deck again.
Sposta be hot all week. I am patiently
waiting :-)
My sunflowers are just wonderful. I am
really enjoying them. There are lots of
blooms on each bunch of them, but more
on the ones by the cat house. The seeds
are those we buy for the birds.. Next
year Pennys gonna plant them all around
the deck, it will be so pretty.
That one picture you can see me sitting
in the doorway. Penny snapped it when I
wasn't looking. I was calling Tigger. Hes
so afraid to be out there, hes constantly
on guard, on the look out for Dinky. If
Dinky sees him he will attack and be all
sorts of mean to him. Dinky thinks he
owns this place, altho he does allow Fuzz
and Earie to eat, once in a while he lets
Graybelle depends how moody she is. :-)
Rebecca is due tomorrow and I'm glad, Ive
not seen her in quite awhile and I worry
when I don't. She has just been super busy.
Today Penny brought some green tomatoes
from her garden! So, guess what I'm gonna
have for lunch? Yup, fried green tomatoes.
I cant wait. I can almost taste them. We
were gonna make potato salad today but
spaced it out so Wednesday that is on the
menu,, I LOVE my potato salad, its my moms
recipe and MMMM wonderful..

Post time and food time for this GORGEOUS
WEEBLE, hope you had a nice cool weekend,
keep well and God Bless...

~Goldfinch Is Back !~

While I was talking on the phone this
morning and looking out the back door, I
had the nicest surprise! You see the photo,
a goldfinch was on the sunflower..
They are the most beautiful bird. Well
they all are, but I enjoy the finch, it
reminds me of the canaries my gramma
Wales had. She loved those birds and they
loved her...
Their names were Pete and Repeat.. :-)
Really...She would go up to the cage and
tell the birds," are you going to sing for
me today?" They would start to warble
and get louder and louder and gramma
loved it.
If they sang during the day when gramma
hadnt asked them she would say "listen, the
birds are happy, you can tell by their singing".
She had those birds a long time and even had
baby canaries. Gramma loved her birds.. I guess
I'm like my gramma, cuz I love birds too... I
miss them when they don't come by. We keep
the feeders well stocked with food.
Its another hot day and no relief in site, it
did rain for a short time yesterday but not
enough to help my grass. I guess I should
get a hose and sprinkler, I bet the birds
would like that, but I cant get to the faucet
outside, well once I get my deck I can, its
on the side of the house.
All my sunflowers are doing great. Here by
the door and over by the cat house. Lots of
flowers for the finchers :-)
Its lunch time and I'm having some fresh
from Pennys garden green beans. They are
so good I almost cant stand it. We put some
bacon and a little diced onion and they are
wonderful.. I wish I had more. Penny is going
to bring some more on Monday YIPPEE!!!

Until tomorrow, this GORGEOUS WEEBLE
hopes you have a great weekend. Keep cool
and well.. God Bless...

~Hot Kitties too~

the red ^ mark where the cats are.
The heat has been and still is just
unbearable. It was 94 with a heat index
of 104. I don't remember heat like
this since I lived in Texas. My air
conditioner is steady running and is
making me worry as to how high my
electric bill is gonna be. Usually at
night I never hear it come on, I have
the past few days its going full out.
I came into the kitchen yesterday
about 5 and like I always do I looked
out side to see if any of the kitties
were out there. 4 of them were. Earie
and Dinky and Graybelle were in the
yard in the shade and Tigger was up
here by the peonies. They looked hot.
Graybelle was laying so still I thought,
Dinky maybe got into it with her. She
was on her back with her leg up in the
air. I had to laff and of course took
pictures... :-)
Franesse, my nurse came yesterday. She
gave me one of her cards that's how I
found how to spell her name! My BP was
sky high.. 174/97. I was upset is why
and explained to her what was wrong.
Other than that I'm doing ok..
I guess I can say why I was upset, I
wasn't going to but.... again some one
has violated one of my photos and put
it into a video clip with other amps and
then posted the video on You Tube. I
am so sick of this and these people that
do it should think of how we feel. The
person that posted them is named
amputeesuperadmirer. How untrue a
name. Admirer. He must hate us to
violate us like this. I filed a complaint
with you tube, he has 48 hours to do
something.. this is so wrong , I bet
most every woman on all 54 of the
videos he posted have NO idea they
are on it.. Pathetic person. and I am
totally fed up with this.
Well now that I got this GORGEOUS
WEEBLE thinking about this again I'm
gonna post this and go take a 5.. I hope
y'all are cooler than me, happy weekend
too! Keep cool and well. God Bless..

~The Deck Has Started!~

My deck is in progress!!! Donnie got here
about 5, hoping it would have cooled down
but it didn't. It was SUPER hot. He got
the 4 posts in.
He had to stop every 10 minutes or so to
come in and cool down. He was starting to
worry me he was sweatin so bad.
He had to dig the holes, then put the posts
in, he'll cut them off later. Then he had to
pour cement around them to keep them in
place..
Then he unloaded the rest of the wood off
his truck before he left.. His saws etc are
here under my kitchen table :-)
Dutch of course had to watch and supervise.
He checked out the tools too, he wasn't too
impressed with them... :-) specially under HIS
table. He doesn't like Donnie very much and
I don't know why, well maybe its cuz hes
so big and kinda loud.
Penny came today and made some of that
good goulash and pineapple cookies. She
took some home for Mike, he made some
brownies for me a while back so it was
just kind of a thank you...

Squirrley came by today! I was SO glad
to see him. Hes not been here since Tigger
chased him up the tree! Penny had just
put fresh seed out there. She cleaned
and filled the birdbath too, the one with
water in it. The birds have been steady
in it. They have a nice spot out there.
Its time for this GORGEOUS WEEBLE
to eat some goulash and have a cookie.
Stay cool and well and God Bless..
was 93 yesterday with a heat index of 102.

~Pineapple Cookies~ BestI In The World~

Ive been asked lots of times for some of
my recipes, specially my pineapple cookies.
So today, I'm posting my recipe. It came
from my grandmother. It was one of my
moms favorite cookie recipes, and I have
ALL of them. Her recipe box is my most
prized possession..
That photo up there is my mom fixing lunch
I think, but if you look there on the counter
on the left you see a 3 tiered red with white
lid cookie jar. She kept 3 kinds of cookies
in that, all homemade. I never remember her
ever having store cookies in her house. Same
with bread, she made it herself.
That is the bowl my mom used for everything.
I can remember scraping out that bowl when I
was very small. If I had a dime for every time
mom and I used it Id be rich. :-)

That is her recipe box, full of wonderful tasty
recipes. This recipe is there, in her handwriting
notice she spelled cookie .... cooky.. I miss her.

Try the recipe and let me know if you liked them.
I have NO doubts you will.. In the meantime I
am still a GORGEOUS WEEBLE.. Keep well
and God Bless...

~Eaten Sun Petals~

Something has eaten all the petals
off the sunflowers! I have no idea
what! The finches will be pleased
they don't have to work around them
but they arent as pretty for me! :-)
The red arrows show the ones fixin
to bloom..
Woke up to rain this morning and we
are under the gun for storms this
afternoon.. I can hardly wait! Ya,
right! The grass does need it tho.
The lawn looks awful its so dry.
I don't have a hose or sprinkler
plus the fact I couldn't reach it
to turn it on or off anyway.
I had thought once I get my deck
I want a table for out there, but
I cant have one with an umbrella
like I had in Elkhart on my lanai.
I couldn't leave it up all the time
with the storms and just be no
way I could close it up. But I will
get one of those umbrellas that
can clip onto my chair, that will
work. Donnie will be here tonite
or tomorrow to pour the cement
and put in the posts. I told Penny
that when I leave this place I'm
taking it with me or Donnie has
instructions to take it if I die. I'm
not leaving it here for my landlord
that's for sure, and it wont be
attached to the house so it could
be moved

Today Penny is making some sketti
sauce, we havent had it in awhile.
I had her pick up some pringles
potato chips as LB LOVES them.
When I open the can he hears it
no matter where he is and comes
running, then I have to sit there
and feed them to him one at a time.
He usually eats about 3 of them. :-)
Hes spoiled.

I was telling Penny of how I had to
learn to make Italian food. My first
hubby, Danny, the father of my 2
sons was Italian and Hungarian. His
dad was full Italian, and the whole
family loved to eat. My next door
neighbor was Mr and Mrs Rossi.
She was a wonderful cook and taught
me how to make pasta. Mr Rossi was
a wine maker of Dego Red, talk about
some killer wine! We loved to go over
there and visit cuz Mr Rossi always
said "you wanna taste of my wine?"
He would give us a water glass full
and MMM it was good.

Well this has drugged on, I better
post this and get ready for spaghetti,
well rotini. I'm still a GORGEOUS
WEEBLE ! Keep well and God Bless..
